Over all massively worth the upgrade
Battery life is much better than previous ones.I put about 100-120 minutes of satellite tracking a day 5 days a week (biking to and from work and a walk at lunch using ultra track to save power). On the 5 I would need to charge every 6-7 days (i think it was 4 and a half years old) On the 7xpro ss I’m at 50% after 7 daysFlashlight is way more useful than you might expect too.Touch screen is fantastic. Body battery is helpful. Sleep tracking still seems like guesswork other than for duration of sleep. Not sure the solar actually does anything for the battery. But it’s neat.More data can be displayed on the watch face (I’ve got 12 “complications” on mine), and the data works as shortcuts to the relevant glances with the touch screen. All in all I’ve been really happy with the upgrade. Mostly because the sensor seems do do a much better job and the battery lasts longer.Haven’t used it in the backcountry yet but I know does a much better job displaying maps at the cost of some battery life.Over all, very happy with the upgrade.

Worth the upgrade if you have a Fenix 6 or older especially if you are into multi day ultras
I'd had my eyes on this watch for a while. I have had the Fenix 6x Pro since 2021 and it is a very capable watch which will quite abley deal with ultra event of up to 2 days if you are just in standard activity mode.I recently used it for a 100 mile 2 day event where I was using the navigation and even though I charged it up on the go twice I still had it run out of battery on me with just 2 miles left to go thanks to just wanting to get to the finish and annoyingly a little bit of dirt in the charging socket that prevented the charging cable staying in.So when this came up on prime deal I made up my mind. To be honest having seen the reviews of the early 7x Pro Solar I wasn't really expecting much aside from the increased battery life and the extra provided by the solar. But I have been pleasantly surprised. The watch is so much more responsive in normal operation than the 6x ProLoading of small routes is almost instantaneous and loading of the Epona 100 route took less than 10s where my fenix 6x pro took in the region of minutes. Being fair there was a lot of activity files in my 6x after 3 years of use but still this gives an idea of the performance increase.Menus are just the same as the 6x but you get the option of using the touchscreen which the most useful thing on this is the palm gesture that takes you from whatever menu back to the watchface. The biggest pluses have beenFlashlight/torch - i thought this was a daft pointless feature, how wrong was I, I'm using this loads already just at night going to bed.Hill and Endurance scores - loving this extra data which is so much better for my monitoring of condition for ultra training and best of all its pulled this data from my connect activities so its already there fresh on my new watch - great stuff GarminTraining readiness - a brilliant improvement on the general condition stats - this gives you an idea of how ready your body is for your next training sessionMorning Report - fantastic way to see how your sleep, HRV and pulse ox has been overnight plus see your day aheadThe only niggle I've had has been with downloading the free topomaps which keep failing on mine seems its a common problem but this isn't an issue for me as I have the maps from my fenix 6x which I'm happy with. There are so many other little subtle improvements, tweaks to setting controls within the watch but oddly the 3rd party watch app control now seems to be from within the IQ store not connect app but that isn't an issue just took me a while to figure out.Overall I am so pleased I took the plunge and bought this on the prime day deal but if you are looking now it may be worth holding on until after September when the Fenix 8 is supposed to be scheduled for launch

Perfect Watch
Wow this is a truly awesome watch and an upgrade to my last Garmin watch. It has incredible functionality, stacks of additional apps, amazing data capture and really I couldn't want for anything more on this superb bit of tech. Really pleased with it and as for it's battery capacity - It can last 30 to 40 days on one charge which is unbelievable and very very handy when travelling. The charge lasts less if I'm in training or golf mode but that's still fine. The golf functionality is amazing and very accurate in respect of distances and course layout as you'd expect from another top Garmin product. You can also load any other sport onto it and set training programmes for running or even 'couch to 5k' which assist and encourage you whilst out running. Love it !!!
