Solid heavy and more than capable for my jobs in the house and workshop
Simply this is a good drill. Perhaps I’ve been too used to my Black and Decker for over 20 years but when that gave up I thought I’d go for this one as it was similarly priced (accounting for inflation). It doesn’t come with any drill bits but I recommend as a starter pack to go for the Bosch Professional 11 piece SDS.I’ve been doing a lot of work on my house and had I had my previous drill it would’ve been difficult. The drill effortlessly drill into sandstone and then solid brick just as simply without jamming. I used the chisel and SDS setting to hammer out a channel for replacing a cable. I was able to install plantation shutters onto an extremely difficult wall. This drill just went through each job like, “Is that the best you’ve got? Pah!”The changing of the chuck is simple, they simply pull off by holding one part of the drill to release the chuck with the other hand. It’s important to apply grease to the inside of the chuck that attaches to the drill but that’s all in the instructions.There are more expensive drills out there which probably do more, but I’m a DIYer and home mechanic who’s also doing some welding jobs and this drill so far (although heavy) is perfect.

Had it for almost 3 years, what a drill for the money…
I’m an enthusiastic DIYer, who due to a previously life in the trades, still does the odd professional job.This drill has seen a lot of action - but my latest use for coring has prompted this review.For the money, I don’t see how you can get better. The 3 year warranty, two chucks, the greater than expected power for a 830W device, and the anti-block clutch, and three settings: rotary only, rotary + hammer, hammer only.I’ve used this as a makeshift jack hammer to get through concrete and tarred road way - and it cuts through it like a knife through butter. I’ve used it to core small holes for exporting cables. And today, I used it to core a 152mm hole through two courses of wall for a kitchen extractor - and it did it with complete ease. Infact it was only till I did this job that I realised it has an antilock clutch - so there’s no risk of breaking your wrist with this!I got it on monthly payments over two years ago - it’s coped with everything I’ve thrown at it, and better than I expected. The only regret I do have is I sometimes wish I went with a cordless - but I’ve a generator if I’m ever truly stuck.Excellent bit of kit.

Best drill I have ever used
First of all I am a rubbish DIY'er. Having moved into a house that was built around 1865 and was owned by an elderly couple there is sadly a lot of DIY needed. Putting up shelves, curtain rails and taking tiles off the walls to name a few.My old power drill is about 25 years and is pretty rubbish, it has a hammer drill setting but that is as fancy as it gets. My wife persuaded me to invest in a new drill. I was reluctant to spend another handful of cash on something I already owned, I mean, how different can a new drill be?Well...... It is as different as my old van to Lewis Hamilton's racing car! They will both get you from A to B but the Lewis's car will get you there a touch faster and make your life a whole lot more fun in the process.This drill first of all has a trigger control to start it slowly, squeeze harder and it goes faster so it means an idiot like me can actually make a hole where it is meant to be and not have the drill bit slide off to somewhere it wants to make a hole.Secondly, it has power, I mean real punch through this brick, stone or cement like it is soft cheeses. Changing the drill bits is easy, apparently it is because they are SDS ( I had no idea what that actually meant).Overall, I could not be happier with this, well yes I could, it could be shiny! But quite seriously, this is one good drill, it makes light of any drilling jobs we have, I have taken tiles off a loo wall and then looked for more destruction to reap.Only thing is, you REALLY need ear defenders, it is noisy otherwise it is bloody brilliant.

Exploding Handle!
Hope it's only my case, but handle loop on mine exploded when trying to adjust, see photos. I was turning it counterclockwise, as per instructions, and came up on some strong resistance so gripped a bit harder and the thing literally snapped and shot out part of it the other end of the room! I literally just got the drill two hours ago and was inspecting it for the job tomorrow, so good thing I did.Also, a small red dot, visible in picts, dropped out, that doesn't seem to belong to the red trigger, so it looks like it might have been jamming something inside the handle. It looks like a drop off from the mould or something like that.Be careful people, and if you can't get the handle to move - maybe better return the item.I'm going to file a complaint and see where it gets.UPDATE: I'm putting it on 4* as ordered another handle and drill works great, hammered down a wall of plaster in less than an hour. I contacted Bosch customers service, so will see what they say.

Perfect for drilling into hard brick
Just drilled 50 x 6mm diameter holes in hard, 120 year old red brick. No problem for this drill with a 6mm SDS drill bit. I also have a Black and decker SDS drill however this is lighter and easy to use as it's less bulky.My old 750W Ryobi hammer drill can't touch this Bosch SDS drill.If you want a good quality corded drill for brick/concrete, this is the drill to buy.I bought the S&R professional SDS drill bit set to use with this drill, they are also highly recommended!

AA++ powerful drill
I used this to bore 15 14mm holes in through a cavity wall (8 inches of solid block wall) in less then half an hour.Each hole went through without a single pause.Afterwordanthe drill wasn't even remotely hot, my hands weren't shaking from feedback (used to happen with my old drill).I can highly recommended it. Not very heavy though there is heft to it. The speed is easily controlled by how hard you pull the trigger, the swith on the side to go from drill, to hammer, to jack hammer is a little fiddly but you get used to it quick.

Not used often but great when you need it.
I bought this to replace an old cheap SDS drill that finally gave up. This Bosch seems well made and is certainly more powerful and smoother to use than my old one. I would recommend it.
