Q: Are these comparable with regular legos?

Yes, I was missing a few small pieces. So I had to use some of my son's normal Legos and they fit perfectly. And this is so very much worth every penny. It's huge almost as long as a whole sheet cake. Because I bought this and put it together to go on top of my son's birthday cake for his 14th birthday but it was too big and heavy for it. So we had to sit it behind the cake. And he loved it. But I glued it all together that way it won't come apart.

Q: Do the canons actually fire? Lego brands have spring loaded guns and I was wondering if these were the same.

I never finished putting it together as it fell apart about half way through. My guess is that the cannons do not fire. This ship would have been good if it weren't so fragile and pieces didn't snap in place tight on many parts....stick with the LEGO brands!!!!

Q: dose this ship float in water

I haven’t tested but I imagine it depends on your definition of float. It’s not water tight so it’s not going to have consistent water displacement. If it does float it’s not going to float like a boat. It that’s not your desired definition then take some clutching brick toys, put them together in any shape and test in the sink. Do they float? There’s your answer. Personally I don’t want tap water on my bricks, or I’d test for you.
