Q: Can it be cooked? I.e. I need to cook the meat AFTER I've put it under pressure.

If you are cooking tongue...you pickle or brine....then long cook...peel...then use the press....one can then slice and eat or pan sear

Q: Can just the stoneware bowl be used in oven? Not any of the press parts.

OOH! That’s a good question & I wish I could tell you - I mean, it IS separable... all the parts come apart & it has a plastic plate on top for the vise... what I don’t know is how oven-safe the bowl is or its glaze is: I’ve only used it cold, pressing inside the fridge. It’s fairly-thick ceramic so, what I’d be sure of doing is, if you experiment with it in an oven, to make sure you have some form of hot pad between it & a cold surface you might be putting it on so it doesn’t crack.
