A fantastic upgrade for me.
I have one of the "low end" Platinum Karaoke machines, and while I like it, it had certain drawbacks. One, the low-def video output (no HDMI). Two, it only came with one microphone. So while I enjoy it, it's always been missing those key items that I think are kind of necessary. So when I got a chance to check out the "Cello 2", i jumped at the chance.I'm glad I did. First, just to address the elephant in the room...or rather, the elephant in the box. And by that I mean the HUGE book with what I can only assume to be a complete song list. It must be an inch thick, and is quite the amazing "included accessory". Why is it so great to have? Because with the book, the next people singing can look up their song and know what they want while the people singing can go on singing. Which is nice, because they have the remotes for looking up songs on the microphones, lol. Whereas my more "budget oriented" Ultimate Karaoke Machine was clearly tailored for the "home user", the Cello 2, with its enormous, very professional looking book and 2 microphones, can venture into "pro-territory", and should be quite a hit if your local bar/restaurant/pub/club is looking to add Karaoke to their entertainment portfolio. The main draw for me is the fact it has 4k HDMI output, so it works great with my 4k TV's and is super-easy to hook up. One cable and blam you're done. Ok, well, 2 cables, it does have a separate audio cable. But with the Cello 2, 2 cables doesn't HAVE to be the end. It can actually be the BEGINNING, because it features, are you ready for this, full 5.1 surround sound pre-outs! That's right, front L&R, rear L&R, center channel, and subwoofer! Straight out of the Cello 2 into your audio amplifier! If you have a receiver or amp with 5.1 pre-inputs, you're in it to win it with the Cello 2. In fact, there's really only 1 output it's missing, and that's a TOSLINK fiber optic output. Which is really not big deal, most people don't use it.I also love that the remote to search songs is no longer separate with the Cello 2 but right in the mics. Of course, it has a huge song list that will frankly surprise you. And the picture quality is so far beyond my other low-def Platinum Karaoke Machine, that I'm likely to forget I own it now.If I had to gripe about something? I sure do wish the remotes were rechargeable and would charge when you lay them down. It would make the batteries pretty much endless. As it is, you have to feed them cursed alkaline batteries.So...it's ALMOST perfect. And it really is an amazing Karaoke machine. Even if you're only getting it for the grandkids to use, they'll never complain they can't find any songs they like. There are so many here, you might never sing them all. And the Cello 2 is as at home in the bar / club, as it is at home, because not only does it have 2 great mics, but you can also connect it to just about anything, from analog composite to HDMI 4k. Bravo.Definitely recommended. And definitely a lot of fun.
