Works great! For splitter and optical cable sound.
This item is perfect for my needs. I have a projector that has 1 HDMI input and a small speaker. I mounted my projector, so I bought an HDMI splitter as well. If you see the photos. I connected the projector HDMI to the Output and I connected the HDMI splitter to the Input of this device. Also, since I wanted a better sound, I connected the optical cable from the device to my surround system and now I have great sound! You will need to provide power to this device via micro USB port. (Only USB cable included). If for some reason your display is acting up, just unplug the USB power cable and plug it back in. It should fix the issue of the display. The size is great and great value. It works as I intended to use is and the installation is self explainatory. (HDMI splitter is something I bought separate, since it prevents me from unplugging HDMI cables from my projector)

TV without any audio output.
My TV doesn’t have an audio out feature which I needed to connect to my hearing aids. This device provides the ability to connect to the hearing aid device via the optical output. Works great!

Worked for 1 month then died.
Worked great for about a month then the audio just stopped. It is still allowing HDMI pass through but the extracted audio port is a no go. Useless and now I can’t return it. Extremely disappointed in this product and Amazon.

Works well with easy install
My only option for decent audio on a HP Pavilion Envy with a nVidia 3070ti was using its HDMI Audio. USB audio options would lock up Win11 do to a USB power issue with the MB, there is no expansion for internal Sound Cards and the onboard is extraordinary pathetic for a gaming PC. Win11 kept messing up the settings with a Denon X2800H AVR and blocking a straight nVidia HDMI Denon ARC to HDMI Monitor connection at random. So I tried this Musou 1080P HDMI Audio Extractor to Optical Toslink(SPDIF) and it is working so far with no hiccups or glitches. The Denon saw the Optical Toslink(SPDIF) audio connection right away and sound is working very cleanly. Win11 recognizes I am connected from nVidia HDMI to a MS-HDMI-RX device. Win11 doesn't recognize a Optical Toslink(SPDIF) connection as the nVidia HDMI is the primary connection and the Denon is just a passthrough. This explains why it won't see a 5.1 connection on the Denon as HDMI is 2 channels, not 5. Nevertheless, a very inexpensive workaround for my PC rig that works fine. The Denon put the soundstage in Matrix Mode with headphones plugged in which is a ProLogic mode that turns out very good clarity and sound for voice & music. I know there are many different reason people use this converter with hit n miss. It was a home run hit for me

Works Well But Minor Glitch With Mac Computers
The player works well, even though it costs much less than other competitors. It is small and lightweight but has a very bright on (green) and off (red) light that is always on if plugged in, meaning you either have to unplug it or place it behind something if used in a bedroom location. If you are moving video or image files from a Mac computer, be aware that the player will register a duplicate "dummy" unreadable file for every viable one. Musou support was able to show me how to "program out" this glitch using the Terminal application on my iMac by referring me to an Apple Support blog piece. The fix worked great, but Musou should disclose this in their instructions and manual since so many users have Mac devices. The tiny manual sent with the player is also almost impossible to read. Fortunately, tech support can send you the URL address to see it more clearly online.I now have thousands of videos and pictures downloaded on my Transcend one TB portable hard drive that works great using the Musou player, all connected to my inexpensive Roku smart TV, that has a great Toslink audio link to my home stereo system. For a total of about $200 I have built a great home theatre system with a good size screen TV, viable and easy to use media player, and wonderful sound system.

Good converter, bad cords
The converter box itself works great, but the cords that came with it are bad. Initially I thought the box was busted as the video and audio kept cutting out every 5 to 10 seconds. After testing on multiple ports and getting the same issue, I finally tried a different HDMI cord I was using on another device and everything worked fine. The audio cord that came with it also has a bad bend in the red connector. Luckily I don't plan on using that cord. At least the USB power cord for it is working I guess? 1 out of 3 working cords isn't a good ratio though.Once up and running the converter works as intended. Just a bit disappointing I have to go buy another HDMI cable since I can't keep using the good one from the other device.

Works flawlessly
Easy to install. Only thing that was not included was a usb wall box. It has all the cables but. O way to plug it in unless you have a USB within 18”.Sound is perfect and great value.

Works as expected, if not better
This product is exactly what I needed to continue using my auxiliary wireless headphones with my Roku , and it worked great after changing my audio-video system configuration. I think some reviewers may have missed the instruction that you had to go in and ensure that the audio mode setting on the audio source (in my case, Roku) was set to PCM. I changed it and it worked as desired, after not working when first set up. The user manual is in very tiny font and is not well written, so that might be a proximal cause of difficulties for some.
