Cannot judge longevity until it fails. It is an identical item to the previous which was 12 years old.

It works, and it is amazingly inexpensive ...
This photoswitch was bought as a replacement for one that was damaged by contractors, and is used to control the lighting around our home. It was easy to install (the instructions were perfectly clear), it works as intended, and it was surprisingly inexpensive. What's not to like?

It was great when first installed, but has failed in 6 months
I used this to replace an existing light sensor that was causing stair lights to turn on on darker or rainy days. With this sensor, I can direct toward the south (the sun) and it works perfect for turning on lights as the light really starts to fade. However, it has failed in 6 months, so have downgraded to one star and a do not buy.

easy and cheap
Easy to wire and worked without a hitch, and you don't have to mess with motion detector settings. A simple solution especially if you use LED lighting where cost of being on all night is not great

Works well, despite cheap build...
This photocell's sensitivity is actually well adjusted. Passing shadows or clouds don't fire up the load/lights unnecessarily throughout the day, which can cause them to prematurely burn out. It also has a standard 1/2 inch thread so no problems with installation. The only issue occurred when adjusting the swivel, it simply came apart at the joint (plastic). Worse, I had to find a bigger flanged screw to replace the original that no longer "fit", in order to repair it. Hence 3 stars.

Perfect replacement
We live in a rural neighborhood and have lights at the end of our driveway. After 17 years the original sensor quit and this was the perfect replacement. Easy replacement, maybe 15 minutes. Hopefully it lasts as long as the first one.
