Q: This appears to be a great grinder. If set on coarse, can I expect much fine powder to be included in the grinder's output or not?

I have had this grinder for about 9 months. I bought it for use in a Chemex and it works great for that use. I currently have it set on 6M for a 3-4 minute pour time for 35 g coffee with 500 g of water. Yes, I’m a coffee geek. I don’t think there is much fine powder with the steel grinder burrs. Not sure how I can tell but it works great for my use. As you probably know the Forte AP with the ceramic burrs is intended for the “more powder” use as in espresso coffee.

Q: Does this grinder work for single dosing? I know that some grinders are better than others for grinding small amounts of beans (e.g., for one-cup).

Yes, it provides a very accurate grind and multiple programmable buttons. All you need to do is load the beans, program setting for different amounts/different brewing methods and there are easy adjustments that you can make to change the grind level. This is an awesome, do it all home coffee grinder. Espresso all the way to press pot!

Q: How is this for grinding for the chemex?

An infinite number of grind settings allows the Baratza to serve any coffee device.
