Durable and comfortable
These are my 2nd pair of these boots. First pair lasted for over 15 years which prompted me to buy a new pair. Not my everyday wear but they have endured lots of extreme conditions and lots of hours on my feet.

Many pairs
I get a clothing allowance for work - Law Enforcement. I've been buying these boots for many years. I do need to add an insert (but I do that with all my shoes) but they feel great and last. Best of all they are priced very reasonable. They also take a nice shine from shoe polish.

Amazing boots for a great price
They fit great and feel just as great. Don’t let the 4 stars fool you, if I could give it a 4.5 I absolutely would. The only reason I didn’t give it a full 5 is because there is a part on the inside by the ankle where is it a tad uncomfortable but it’s definitely because I haven’t broken them in yet. Great buy!

More comforatble than combat boots but not quite as durable
These boots have zippers which does make them quicker to put on and take off, but it's also where I've had the failure in older pairs - I've been through 4 or 5 pairs in the last decade or so - I'm not complaining exactly but when they do die, its usually the zipper that goes - there's a reason why military boots don't use zippers - they are much more prone to failure - but if you need a decent pair of tactical style boots that have a bit more comfort and padding than your standard issue combat boots.. .these are great

Worst boots in 17 years
These are the worse pair of boots I’ve owned in 17 years of wearing boots for work. First time I’ve tried Bates and I’ll never buy another pair. The insert is shaped weird and is uncomfortable on my feet and for some reason no matter how I adjust the laces the right boot digs into the top of my big toe every time I walk to the point of causing constant redness. I thought they’d break in or I could make lace adjustments but I’ve finally had it today and am calling these crap. Waste of money and unfortunately I’m beyond the return window so I’m stuck with this. Do yourself a favor and avoid these.

Good boot just wrong material for me
Very comfortable and slide on and off easily. The leather is textured though and does not hold or take a bright shine. Which I need that shine on the front of the boot for where I work. The three stars is not to do with quality. The pictures lead me to believe I could get a bright shine.
