Wira Brand Ragi Tempeh (Tempeh Starter) - 17.6oz (Pack of 1), 1.1 Pound (Pack of 1)

I'm a newbie at this and have ordered starters in the past that came in "micro packages" that are outrageously EXPENSIVE ! No more - this works every time - I've made - soy - chick pea - etc., tempeh and always have enjoyed a success ! I use a generous amount though - not stingy with my starter and use a little rice vinegar - my method is the instant pot - from cooking the beans to making tempeh - use yogurt setting on normal in a Pyrex glass container - the top gets covered with white mold first - then I just flip it and let it ferment more - no ice chest - no plastic bags with holes - etc... Works perfectly for me... ;-)

This worked great once I figured it out as it comes with no instructions.

I initially rated this product low because my first two batches of tempeh didn't even begin to grow. Third time's the charm I suppose? Went to bed to a slightly musty smelling bag of chickpeas. Woke up about five hours later to PROLIFIC mycelium growth. It's fluffy, white, and smells fairly earthy. Success!

I’m very pleased with this product. Arrived vacuum sealed. I dispensed it into an airtight mason jar & freeze it. I’ve already used it to make several delicious batches of non-GMO, organic Tempeh.

This product was nice and fresh and made perfect Tempeh the very first time. I tried to make my own starter, what a disaster! The expire date is over a year away. Thanks!

Read the fine print, there is a tiny California prop 65 label on the bag and no mention of it in the product description. Returns are not allowed for this product for any reason. It’d be Great to know what is in the product that requires a cancer and reproductive harm warning..

I have bought this tempeh starter in the past and it is very potent. Never have I had a bad batch. This package has a best use date of 1 year and 9 months which is great for me. Since I am the only tempeh aficionado in our household it will last a long time.Good stuff and reasonably priced compared to other brands of starter culture.

The Product was Good... Order was Cancelled WITHIN HOUR OF BEING PLACED , as I found the same product alot cheaper with another supplier...Yet Forrest Corner shipped even tho cancelled....
