Used for a religious study
Have been reading and discussing this book through my Catholic Church study group. Very insightful, even though at times, it can be hard to understand probably due to the fact that this was an original work written during the Inquisition period in Spain and specifically to her fellow sister Carmelite nuns. It makes you think about your own soul in relationship to the Lord. There are times when I feel that St. Theresa is talking to me personally which got me thinking about my own soul even after being gone from the Church for over 40 years and since returned several months ago.

Tough Read
I bought this book for my wife reading group. It’s a very tough read I could not get through it although I was trying to do it on the Kindle this book has a study guide to help you along. She’s enjoying it.

A must-have if you're looking to deepen your commitment to God
This is Saint Teresa of Avila's masterpiece and that's probably an understatement. This book was the reference publication in a 6-weekend seminar my wife and I attended at St. John XXIII Catholic Church in Fort Myers, FL in the early months of 2023 given by Father William Jarema (Mercy Center, Colorado Springs). The study edition authors do an excellent job of expounding on Saint Teresa's writings. Get this book, you won't be sorry!
