Sunday Afternoons Kids' Play Hat

I’ve been looking for a good, lightweight hat with a wide brim to protect our kids from the sun. I don’t like iPlay hats because the material is too sweaty. Unfortunately, the lightweight cotton hats aren’t good for water activities and pools since they don’t dry as quickly. These hats are made of a synthetic wicking material, so they dry quickly when wet but are also breathable and have mesh venting. My kids still get sweaty running around on a sunny day but not as bad as when they wore the iPlay hats. I love the wide brim in the front and in the back. The adjustable back strap makes it convenient for growing kids. I’ll loosen it up to make some space when my daughter’s hair is in a pony tail. I also love the chin strap and how it has an easily adjustable tightener and safety release clip to prevent the hat from accidentally choking a kid. The only con is that in order to keep the shape of the wide brim, I think there is a thin piece of cardboard inside which I’m afraid will lose its structural integrity over many washings. They’ve held up well for the last 6 months as I’ve been putting them in a large mesh bag when I wash them and hang drying them - so we’ll see. Overall, a wonderful, thoughtfully designed hat for children. I assume it’s comfortable too, since my kids keep this hat on longer than any of their other sun hats. It’s a little more expensive than most sun hats but if that’s what it takes to get them to keep it on, then it’s worth it!

Literally the only hats that my kids keep on their heads. Adjustable, durable, comfortable and cute color ways. We live in Hawaii so these come in very handy as they are breathable yet cover their whole head and neck to prevent sunburns. Love these versatile hats!

Our kids have been wearing Sunday Afternoon bucket hats for years. These are our go-to hats for sun protection. I love that there is a perfect size for any age and they are very comfortable for our children. We’ve never had problems with them staying on and I especially love the extended back protection, especially for smaller babies.

This is the best sun hat out there for children! I looked at many hats before purchasing two of these for a beach trip for my grandchildren. They are a little more pricey than other sun hats, but far superior! Some of the unique features we appreciated most: a “floatable” brim (meaning it didn’t flop down in their faces when wet); an adjustable, BREAKAWAY chin strap; sun protection for their entire face and neck; and the air vent design - so smart! I bought these larger than the recommended sizes, and would do that again. They are adjustable so they fit fine and can be worn another two years. My three year old and 11 month old grands never complained or tried to take them off. I would buy these again, hands down. Well worth the price.

I have been purchasing this brand for over 10 years. The one hat the kids will keep on. Adjustment in back allow you to keep snuggly on head without being uncomfortable. Adorable colors and great sun protection.

This hat is fantastic. Super adjustable to fit our baby’s large head. And super cute print, everyone always comments on how cute the dinos are. We’ve had it for a couple months now and it is holding up really well

Used to have all cotton wide brim hat for a 3 yo, which was cute but would have a wavy front (since there was no firmness inside the brim) which obscures the view of the little one which could be dangerous and since she always tries to lift the front to look better, doesn't give her face good protection from the sun (her eyes may be in shade, but the rest of the face would be in the sun).Bought this after seeing similar ones at REI (same price as Amazon, so definitely recommend testing it on their heads before purchasing) and happy with how it worked. Bought medium for a standard sized 3 yo and tighten the strap in the back to fit her. Works great and it'll accommodate her for many years to come I think. It usually shades her whole face, plus neck area. Great when wet too (doesn't lose the sturdiness of the brim).What is also worth mentioning is the safety strap feature - if the neck strap gets stuck or pulled with a certain force, it'll detach itself so as not to be a strangulation hazard. It's very well made and does not come off when she's running around and putting it on and off, but when it's pulled suddenly or hard, it'll detach itself. It's easy to re-attach as well (even for a 3 yo).Also has a ventilation band surrounding the base which keeps the head cool. Washes great and light weight.Would buy again. In fact, thinking of getting another one for school.

I have this hat for my daughter , she’s worn it for years, it holds up to all her play time outside, and adjusts to her growing head !! This is the best sun hat for my kids , I will not buy another brand !
