It has a bit of vinegar smell when it's sprayed, and then nothing. I have a fairly intense sense of smell, and I haven't noticed any residual odor to this product.

Q: Does it have a residual effect?

If by residual you mean does it last? Then yes it lasts for a few days for me. You may need to use more often if your allergies are particularly bad.
