This is the kibble you’ve been looking for!
This is one of only two dry foods that I’ll feed our puppy. I worked in the pet food industry for several years, so I have a microscope on anything I plan on feeding our dogs. Our puppy will eventually be on full raw like our adult dogs, but for convenience during travel while he’s little, we opted to do a partial kibble diet.I look for several things in my dog food; grain free but no/low in legumes, variety of high quality protein sources (not only chicken), and relatively low carb levels. Legumes have a potential link to DCM, as well as fertility issues, so I try to avoid foods with high legumes. I’ve found many brands just replace grains with legumes and starches and deceive by ingredient splicing (ex: chickpeas, pea protein, split peas). This is one of two lines of food that has passed my very stringent requirements; the other being Instinct Raw Boost Beef ONLY.Kibble requires a binding agent to hold together, unlike raw food and wet food, so SOME carbs are required. That being said, this food contains less than 25% carbs, which is great and low for kibble. Sweet potatoes and flax are used in this case instead of legumes or grains. There’s many named meat sources in the Wild Red lines, and they do seem to be compatible with rotation since the ingredient lists are similar besides the protein source. We still add a fresh source of Omegas by rotating through fish oil & coconut oil, and a tablespoon of fresh finely chopped veggies for additional variety. We also soak the kibble in warm water to rehydrate for a few hours before feeding for hydration and decreased risk of bloating. (You’ll be shocked how much it expands!)Our puppy has been doing great rotating onto this food. His poops are great, his coat is soft, and he eats it better than the other food we rotate with.Long story short; highly recommend this food. The cost is high, BUT for good reason. Very few other foods meet the quality of this kibble. This food is an all around good option for those avoiding filler ingredients: grains, legumes, and excessive carbohydrates. It is the best of the dry Stella & Chewys formulas and most biologically appropriate in my opinion.

Delicious and affordable
My dogs love this brand! I compared a lot of different brands and did some extensive research on dry dog foods and this one meets the most criteria in terms of protein, fresh ingredients, and dry type. I used to make my own dog food each week and I no longer have time. But this food is the freeze dried version of what I was making! I have 2 60 lb pups and the bag lasts a month with the recommended serving size! I also pair it with half a can each of the Stella and chewy stew topper! My dog’s coats are shiny and they have so much energy! I recommend this brand!

The best kibble out there IMO
A lot of reviewers have issues with the price and the fact that the kibble doesn't really appear to be raw coated like the pictures advertise. Both are valid, but in my opinion the ingredients out weigh the complaints ten fold. The picture I took was immediately after opening the bag and I did notice it didn't appear very "raw coated." However, This is the only kibble I could find that is super high protein without legumes and grains. Which is just phenomenal and exactly what I want for my dogs. The lack of "raw coating" isn't an issue for me bc I feed this kibble combined with the Nature's Diet freeze dried raw food (really awesome stuff and the most affordable in it's category btw). My dogs love it. This stuff even gets my cat's attention when I open the bag and he eats wet food! I really appreciate the quality of the bag and the fact that it's re-sealable was such a pleasant surprise. That really adds to the overall quality and justification of the price to me. Even if you can't afford to feed this kibble every day (I barely can, but I just want the best I can do for my dogs like most people) I think it's so worth it to buy a small bag and supplement with this. I would love to be able to feed raw or partially raw, but I currently need the convenience of dry food and this is a much better option that any kibble I've seen. And trust me I have looked at every single kibble ingredient list can find. So, I give it 4/5 stars because it should be more obviously raw-coated if they're going to advertise it as such, but 5/5 for the ingredients and bag quality. Also, I noticed a reviewers mentioning their dogs having diarrhea from this food. In my experience when I have changed my dogs’ food too quickly it causes tummy issues and what looks like allergic reactions especially if the main protein source is being changed. (One time I changed my dog’s food from lamb based to chicken too quickly and her poor face blew up like a balloon, but she’s not actually allergic to chicken) With this food being so rich in a bunch of different proteins it’s better to slowly introduce this food if your dogs are used to something lower in protein. I start with the new food being less than a quarter of one of their meal for the first few days and then the next few days it will be a whole quarter and so on. So with that method I haven’t had tummy issues.

She eats it!
Ok, sometimes she eats it. My hava-poo is really fussy. I've tried everything, really. She eats something different every day. Kibble about every day. This is one of the few she'll eat at all. We were getting the air-dried brand at $70/#, but she suddenly decided she didn't like it. It sounds like I spoil her, but mostly I'm afraid she'll starve. Anyway, this has a good formula that looks nutritious at a good price point. So far so good!
