Q: Does it have to be used against a wall or headboard?

It probably works better if there is at least a wall behind it, but the velour cover makes it so that it doesn't slide much. I've been using it nightly since my shoulder surgery and it's way more comfortable than sleeping in a recliner. It does take a lot of room on the bed though.

Q: What is the oder like in this pillow set? Others say too strong oder.

The pillows have no odor. There was a little plastic smell from the plastic bags when I first opened the pillows but as soon as I moved the plastic bags away there was zero odor. (And I am extremely sensitive to odors because I have asthma and allergies and these are just fine, no smell, not bothering my allergies either.)

Q: Is the width of the largest pillow 25.5 inches?

My measurements are about 23.5". Hope this Helps!
