I bought it as a gift, and they're chuffed to bit with it.It's good quality, and the woodwork and details are really good, the magnets are strong enough to function but not so strong you can't move the pieces.

Very good quality item, beyond expectations at the price. Pcs are magnetic but very little strength to stick to the board. Great set to travel somewhere with but not very good for travelling and pcs too easily fall or get lost

I spent a fair amount of time searching for a nice travel chess set to play on holiday. This was about the only one with rounded edges which I thought would be better for keeping in my rucksack.On the whole I am happy with the set, however the magnets are not really very strong and the chess pieces will slide off if you move the board (we found this out the hard way on the aircraft and then had to search for the pieces 😡). However, for the price it did the job.I had a look under the felt of one piece to see if the magnet could be easily removed and exchanged but it’s fairly well glued into place and trying to move it would damage the piece.The pieces are light and look nice. They are easy to distinguish from each other and not difficult to pick up or put down - even for my fat fingers.My only regret apart from the strength of the magnets is that one you have removed an opponents piece from the board there is nowhere to safely stash it. You can’t move the board to replace it in the foam cut out underneath as all the other pieces will fall on the floor. In hindsight I would have bought a set with a drawer on the side to place the pieces in.There is a sort of silky blue drawstring bag which comes with the board but to be honest it’s such a tight faff getting it into it, I gave up bothering to try.On the whole I am happy with the set for the money I paid. But if I could do it over again I would spend a little more for a set with a side drawer.
