Good value
Well made, but ground connection body threads shallow and kind of loose fitting - be careful tightening.

Hard to tell how good they are. May never know
They are the cheapest I've seen, I've rather have $17 units that may never been used, then $60 unit.

Love this
Great for my Ham shack it is hooked outside in a dry box on the outside wall. Hooked up to KMR 400 coax.

Safety
Using on a scanner, will see how good is but I rather not

Lightning Struck….it works.
I bought this a year ago and have been running a 30 watt GMRS repeater with it. I was advised to ground the antenna which was about 30 feet in the air on an OE-254 mast. Anyway, the 16ft Comet base antenna was struck by lightning. It exploded like a piece of bamboo, but this $17 lightning arrestor saved my repeater from any damage at all. As a matter of fact, the repeater was still operating at degraded capacity despite 90% of the antenna gone. I’m a believer, I will not set up an antenna again without one.
