Q: Can you use CR123 batteries with this light?

Yes, but they cannot be recharged via the headlamp.

Q: I just recieved this headlamp in the mail. It will not turn on. Battery indicator only works when charger is connected. What am i doing wrong?

Hold down on the button for a second it’ll light up. To check the status of the battery, quickly push the on button, solid green light means it’s fully charged. Flashing light means around 50%, when it dims to a lower setting it needs a charge fairly soon. Also if you accidentally double tap the button it’ll sometimes go to red mode or flashing, either double click the start button again, but I’ve found it’s easier to unscrew the battery cap which resets it back tp normal operation. It’s a good headlamp, but a bit of a pain figuring it out.

Q: Does this work with flat top batteries?

No. The HM61R requires button top 18650s with protection circuits.
