Better than Cheap stones for sure!
I have used this on all my knives and they are super freaking Sharp now. I watched Kramer's YouTube video and bam! I feel like I'm a pro using this to Sharpen everything! I returned all the cheapo stones and only use this now. I Bought the strop too and wow! Awesome! Easy to use just watch a video!

An Excellent Piece of Engineering and Qulaty
This set is worth every penny. I am a heavy user of kitchen knives and there's nothing more irritating when putting a meal together than compromised (dull) knives. Take the 10 minutes to watch the instructional video and you will achieve excellent results. For those who lower the rating because it's "pricey", don't understand value. You can buy less expensive sharpening systems for sure and if you are ok with less that really sharp knives, then go for it. Extremely happy with this system!

you can achieve razor sharp knives
I own 3 Bob Kramer knives and they are the best. My favorite is the Damascus 10 inch kitchen knife. they all stayed sharp for a very long time with an occasional stroke on the honing stick. I took it to sur la table to be sharpened and they did an "ok" job but not back to the sharpness of the knife when it was new.I watch the video's on line with Bob Kramer using these stones and purchased it. First time i tried it, I was not applying enough pressure and did not follow his procedure to begin with multiple strokes (4-5) at a time to develop the wire edge. You have to push harder than you might think. So I didn't achieve the razor edge as they were when new.The next time, I applied more pressure and used 5-7 strokes per side before flipping and could feel the wire edge.I now have the knives razor sharp as they were when new and can shave the hair off my arm with any part of the blade.Suggest experimenting with a cheaper knife so that you can try things without worrying youll damage it.I highly recommend these although they are indeed pricey, you never get more than you pay for. If razor sharp and easy to use with just a little practice is what you want, this product delivers.

Worked Great but Stones cracked/eroded
Product brought knives back to razor sharp levels quickly and easily. However, after the 3rd use I noticed small cracks and erosion on all 3 stones (#400/#1000/#5000). Sorry I forgot to take pics to include in review before I sent them back.

Lifetime Quality Purchase
My husband got this for Christmas and he was so happy. He had to watch videos to learn to use it but he got all our knives sharpened and he says this will last a lifetime.

Nice kit - better instructions would give better results
The set seems to be good quality and the sink bridge is very nice, but I'm struggling to sharpen anything with it. I have a set of Zwilling J.A. Henckels Pro knives (the reason for the purchase) and have spent several hours trying to sharpen, even starting over many times, with little success. My biggest issue is the instructions. They only give you a DVD to play (which my laptop doesn't have a player anymore), but even so, there's about 5 minutes of very general instruction and even some conflicting information from other sources. (Bob says to sharpen at 12-15 degrees / Zwilling's site says to sharpen at 20 degrees, Bob shows to just use a little water - that it doesn't soak in, but I find it's quickly absorbed and not sure how much to maintain, etc.)I don't like to be picky about these things, but I can't seem to find what in this mixture is causing the issue. Is it the stones, is it the knife angle, number of strokes, the type of stroke, am I not holding my mouth right? My guess is that sharpening with these is about 50% the kit and the other 50% your technique...so for that it sure would be nice to see some comprehensive instructions (for this type of knife do this / that type do that, if you start to see this do that, etc.).I would love to hear from someone out there if they have a better way or more reliable technique for using this kit.

Get to know your knives better!
I do not let anyone else sharpen my knives anymore. These stones not only put a beautiful edge on a knife, but I actually look forward to breaking them out and going through the process of really handling my kitchen knives, getting to know where that sweet spot is, and bringing back that razor sharp edge, just me and my knives. It has become almost ritualistic for me. And it's no surprise given that these were a collaboration with Bob Kramer. Though I admittedly do not own a Kramer chef's knife 😬. The price may be a shock to some, but I assure you it is worth it to get them and, if you don't know already, learn how to take care of your own blades.
