Just bought this new back up pump.
I always have a back up pump, KOI over 25 years old in this pond. This pump is outstanding, think it lasted 4 years. Keeps everything flowing and moving from pond back to garage for filtering and back to waterfall and into pond. Good deal on Amazon as well, way better than the water gardens prices. Good product, we could not want anything better.

works well, but they only seem to last about 2 years no matter what I do with them
had 4 now, work well, quiet, move lots of water, but all have broken at about 2 years. good filtration, not a harsh climate here.

Sturdy long-lasting pump
Love these pumps! They last a long time, and are energy efficient. They don't clog easily and are forgiving of plant material; strong enough to just grind up much of it and spit it out without damaging parts. (yes I know one shouldn't have that situation, however with storms, trees, rummaging Koy, and caretakers who refuse to touch pond water when I'm gone, debris happens)...And this pump will keep on sucking, doing its best to maintain water flow! I will say though, don't bother trying to replace the impeller if that starts wearing; they are expensive, hard to get out (hefty magnet!!) and mine broke instanly upon installation. I think they may be making a slightly less sturdy impeller; my first Pondmaster lasted nearly seven years with continuous use/abuse. I also use this unit to drain my pond quickly when I need to do a water change (I rigged a harness around it with zip ties and rope). I use the harness in the winter to suspend the pump from a log - so I can retrieve it easier if ice forms; wish it had a handle molded into it). One "feature" I've wondered about is the female threaded inlet, and the manufacturer says "inline use" so I tried to attach a short hose to it to reach into the deepest part of the pond, but it absolutely would not suck water? Overall, still an excellent, American made pump! Oh, and if you have a question or problem - there is a REAL PERSON, and NICE, who will answer the phone!! (sorry manufacturer if this increases calls, but I glow with joy at this rare service)!!!

Excellent Pump
Pondmaster is the only brand I will buy going forward.Earlier this year, I purchased another brand because I got it at a discounted price, and it died within a few months. Even when it was working, it was really difficult to prime, and the water flow would stop every few days for no apparent reason. I was constantly fighting with it to keep it pumping. My prior pump was a Pondmaster, and it lasted for years before dying. I replaced the impeller on it twice before the magnets in the housing got worn too badly and it stopped working. This pump looks exactly like my old Pondmaster, except for being considerably larger (2400 gph vs 900 gph), and works very well. My waterfall looks much better with the increased water flow. I replaced the short pre-filter with a TetraPond SF1 Submersible Flat Box Filter to prevent my fish from getting pulled into the pump. This pump primes itself much better than any pump I have owned as well. I had to lift the filter while cleaning the pond and accidentally introduced air into the line, and it had no problems priming itself and quickly restoring water flow. I would recommend it without hesitation.

Great Pump
Nice and Powerful pump. I changed the Prefilter that came with it to a square sponge prefilter to prevent the goldfish from being sucked to the inlet. Works like a charm. I made a homemade filter with a 5 gallon bucket and a lid. I drilled holes in the lid with a doorknob drill bit and made a hole big enough for the outlet tube to go in.(hose should be long enough to go to the bottom of the bucket) I stuffed the bucket with fiberfill pillow stuffing from walmart and used plastic window screen under the lid to keep the fiberfill in. You can put whatever you want inside, lava rock etc. Fast Economic filter that keeps the water crystal clear. I occasionally spray the screen if any algae starts to plug the openings with a hard stream of water and that keeps the openings clear without having to shut off the filter. The bucket can be placed at the waterfall feature. Very easy to make and very economical! Love the Pump!
