Genuine G.I. 3 Piece 1 Quart Plastic Canteen (Olive Drab)

I would definitely recommend this item works very well.Well, constructed trouble-free.

I order several of these Rothco "3 piece" "genuine us gi" canteen, 3 from Go Commando Gear and 1 from Army Universe. They came quickly in the mail. Unfortunately the size and shape of the one from Army Universe was way off when compared to my other Rothco's purchased from Go Commando Gear. It isn't stamped made in us on the bottom, like my other rothco's. And it's not even a 3 piece canteen, but instead a 2 piece with threads that are less than desirable. Kevin of Army Universe attempted to convince me my newly received 2 piece canteen was actually a 3 piece, as if I didn't know the difference. I have returned that one and opted for another from Go Commando Gear. Their canteens are as issued mil repro' with standard cap. Very solid, we'll made canteen. Use Commando, forget those other guys.

The canteen lacks a seal or gasket in the cap and leaks. I filled it, tipped it upside down, and within two hours it was leaking out of the cap. The plastic is durable, but the cap does not seal well, and unless you keep it upright, this canteen will leak.

I purchased this item after watching a few backpack loadout videos on YouTube by British ex-Royal Marine Commando Nick Goldsmith (he has two channels, "Hidden Valley Bushcraft" which he kept online but has stepped away from adding content since July of 2022, as well as his newest active channel, "Nick Goldsmith"). The canteen is made of very thick plastic and appears to be very durable. I am not sure if spare lids are available for it should one become broken or lost, but for the price, you could always just buy another whole canteen and keep the other lid-less bottle as a spare.I have read other reviews about the smell and leaking. I am pleased to report that I have experienced neither of those. Since it is made from plastic, it does have the potential to retain smells and tastes from fluids or thick food items placed in it so I would recommend using it for water ONLY. When I did fill it with water, I shook it quite vigorously as well as left it tipped upside down and not a single drop came out. I didn't torque the lid down super tight but rather screwed it on a normal amount like I do with my Nalgene.For the nostalgic out there, this is a cool piece of military-esque kit and would make a lovely addition to your rucksack. This one DOES NOT come with the cover for it so you will have to purchase that separately. I got the Rothco GI Style MOLLE Canteen Cover, Multicam for it and it works perfectly and looks great.

Does its job fine

ソロキャンプにて使用。通常の水筒として使用するには匂いもなく問題なく使用できました。しかし、夜寒かったので熱湯を入れて湯たんぽとして使用しましたが、入れたときは変形もなく問題なかったのですが、朝起きてみてみるとおそらく足を上に置いていたのか少し凹んでしまった。家に帰ってから再度熱湯を入れたら元の形に戻りました。大変気に入ってます。

I bought two of these...one is ok. The other smells like burnt china no matter what I do to wash it. Sucks because I bought these to be working canteens. I would not recommend.
