I bought this new ribbon cable because the old one connected to the Blu-Ray disk-drive in my PS3 Slim no longer worked. Been having problems for a while inserting disks into the console. Normally it takes the disk if you insert one, but mine wouldn't even accept them. Figured it had something to do with the busted ribbon cable. Purchased this on a bit of a gamble because there were no reviews I could find on here that could confirm the reliability of this seller when it comes to this specific ribbon cable. Fortunately, my worries were calmed once I put the new one in. My PS3 Slim now accepts disks again and I'm one step closer to repairing it. It still takes a long time for the system to process a game disk, but that's a different problem all on its own. The Blu-Ray laser in the drive no longer works properly so that is going to have to be replaced soon too. DVDs can still be processed due to the PS3's disk-drive using separate lasers for Blu-Ray and DVD disks so at the moment it functions more or less like a DVD player. Since all PS3 disks are Blu-Ray disks, I can't play any games on it at the moment except for the ones I have already digitally downloaded onto it in the past.For those familiar with how the insides of a PS3 Slim look like, you have to twist this type of ribbon cable so that it can connect properly to both slots it's supposed to go into. It can be awkward to do this because you have to connect the cable to both slots when the disk-drive is set in place. One of the slots is tightly confined between the system's fan and the drive which makes it hard to get any leverage in putting the cable in and seeing whether it actually went in. The original ribbon cable for my PS3 Slim I eventually broke one end due to this struggle.For those noticing an issue with their PS3 and wish to open it up to repair it, I suggest to watch some YouTube videos regarding repairing a PS3 and do research online on the topic before you actually do anything. This is coming from someone who has managed to fix problems with both his PS3 Slim and PS3 Super Slim through trial and error. Always good to find visual examples of what you're getting yourself into when doing self-repair. It's also a good idea to do this for the very fact that while the OG PS3, Slim, and Super Slim versions all have similar core parts to them, how they are placed within vary. Same goes for certain replacement parts. Just wanted to leave some tips onto my review in case another PlayStation enthusiast/amateur fixer might be having a similar problem to the one I had and happens to come across this. I just want to guide them in the right direction and to inform them that the ribbon cable replacement I got is legit.

For those wondering, this will not work with the PHAT ps3 model CECHL. Even though it has the same number of pins, you will need an original cable. No fault of the seller, as this listing clearly states slim models only.

I had accidentally damaged some of the pins on my PS3 slim Blu-ray drive player (the ribbon that goes across the top of the player) and couldn't get any discs to feed.Figured I'd give this cable a shot since it was so cheap. Obviously the lead time on it was insane because it came from China directly, BUT it works flawlessly, so I'm happy.I can finally use my PS3 again!

It took some time to get here but it's well worth it. Easy to put in with no complaints
