Thin it out, easier to work with.
People unfortunately don’t know paint so complain it’s thick. You can think it out with up to 10% water, just like most paints if too thick. Easy to work with and can also spray with airless sprayer if thinned out enough up to that that 10% max per manufacturer recommendations.

Goes on real thick.
I have no idea how it well it retards the spread of fire but it does go on real thick. It is difficult to work with and has the consistency of cream even though I mixed it throughly. I used 2 gallons for a 8x6 boiler room and adjacent storage closet. What makes it worse is that I only painted 1/4 of three walls in the boiler room. One wall is all concrete and the other walls are tiled more than 3/4 the way up. Previous owner tiled the walls. I was going to remove them and paint the walls but I was told that the tiles act as a fire barrier so I left them. You need to use tons of this product to get 2 coats of even coverage. It dries to a rough finsish. I would only use this product for a small area that I don't care about the cosmetics like a small boiler room. I would use the cheaper Contego product for a larger area.
