It is fabric, not plastic but has cleaned up well so far for us.

Q: Has anyone spoken to company that makes this apron about the disappearing print? I don't want to buy it if I can't wash it properly.

Hello! As long as you follow the "Wash Care Label Instructions" that are included in our Gifts Kings Apron, you will not have any problems with the print disappearing. Wash Care Label Instructions: -Wash Dark Colors Separately -Machine Wash Cold (If you use Hot Water this will damage the printing) -Keep Away from Heat and Flame
