The longest piece is approximately 10 cm long. You can use the blocks only for small carvings you can hold in your hand.

Q: Would this wood work for carving my own fishing lures? Ive used balsa wood before but im looking for something with a lil more heft for castability

Yes, bought this set for my 10 Y/O and he has carved 3 or 4 lures so far with no problem, although i will say we haven't finished them yet or used them to fish, just got them carved into the basic shape of the lures he wanted.

Q: Can this wood be used to make chew toys and furniture for small animals (e.g. Hamsters, Guinea pigs, etc.)?

The pieces are very small. Not sure you could make furniture but maybe small chew toys for a hamster.
