Easy install. 3x small holes. Blue backlight.Cover. Great for Dash install big old trucks like C7500
the nice thing about this ie: Easy too install. 3x small holes. 2x for screws, 1x for wire too power..POWER Always on, if connected. but wont hurt a healthy system or Daily driver.. It has blue backlight 2 ports. A NICE rubber cover THAT FITS OK..Best thing is its easy too install on hard spots, IE: like a old c7500 dump truck dashboard. Just snake the wires you need to the fusebox, power supply too w/e.. and ground the black.. Then just solder/shrink connect the wires.. Put the wire back threw middle hole, and use 2 screws too hold the outlet.Looks clean too. I only used it a few times too charge phone and it does charge. Idk how fast, but my phone was dead, and this got me atleast up and working too use mapquest for the ride home. I like the blue light so you can see the plugs just faintly at night. The good and the bad, is it always will be on. Unless you find a fuse on your KEY/ON KEY/ACC. At first i left it on all the time, for few days. but truck has 2 giant diesel battery's. Obviously never drew battery's dead.. But big battery's daily driven.. c6500 GMC... Then i rewired too acc/on. and is there when i need it.You can separate the center outlet from the square housing, but its a pita'. I didnt want too break it.so i just drilled the holes and screwed it on the kneeboard panel of the dash.

Great item! Easy fix to remove the Blue light. Thanks to other reviews!
I bought this to add a phone charging port near the bed on my 06 motorhome. This flat design means I can tap the reading light 12 v wiring from the cabinet above without having to drill a huge hole. The blue light is nonsense, and I wouldn’t have purchased except another reviewer explained how to open the back with a small screwdriver and then use same screwdriver to scrape the led diodes. I wasn’t sure which were them, so I just used a 9V battery to turn them on long enough to identify them. Success! Put it back together, use a little glue to hold the back on, and I’m looking forward to having a place to charge my phone by the bed. (PS if you are going to have a lit outlet where you are trying to sleep, go with red).

Works great after disabling the blue light
I installed this in my car to a continuous power source so I could charge a device without the key in the ignition. Since it had constant power, the stupid LED light presented a problem. I wanted to be able to leave the phone charging in a locked car, and I didn't want to draw attention to it from potential thieves passing by. I also didn't want a power drain with a constantly lit LED. Honestly, why do they put LED lights in everything these days? Anyways, if you are technically inclined enough to install this, you should be able to do what I did to disable the light. With a small flathead, you can pop a cover off the back side of the device to expose the electronics inside, at which point use the same tiny screwdriver to break off the LEDs. Glue it back up and you're good. No more LED

Does its job perfectly
I purchased two of these and installed them in my RV, one near the master bed, and one in the dinette. Now we can just plug in cell phones (or other USB powered devices) and charge them up while having them near us. Perfect.Of course, the hard part was getting 12 volt wiring to where we wanted to mount these, but that is an RV installation issue, not an issue with this product.I was worried that the blue light would bother me when asleep, but it doesn't. I"m also a bit worried about how much power it takes to run that blue light. But I forgot to measure it before the installation was complete. If I get a chance to do that, I'll edit this review. There is the basic item, which fastens with two screws, then a cover plate that goes on over that, snapping in place. I didn't use the cover plate: It covers the screws. But in order to remove the cover plate you need to pry outward on the back, which you can't get to unless you loosen the screws. Thus I was afraid that if I put the cover plate on, I'd never be able to get it off. I also cut off the soft rubber cover (visible in the photos). I suspect that is for use in locations exposed to weather or for marine applications where there is salt spray.

2 minute install- it was a breeze
First, the item came a day before it was expected so that was great. It was simple to install and didn’t need any explanation. The only thing that would have been nice would to have included wire nuts with the package but we have plenty on hand so no big deal. Turned on the power after installing and the plugs lit up blue so you know it’s working. Love that it had a cover for when not in use so kids don’t play with it & you don’t have to see the blue light.

Nice looking, low profile installation.
If you want to add a USB power port in your vehicle, this is a nice option. Note it is a POWER Port, not a smart charger! Your phone may, or may not complain about that... but for providing raw 5VDC power to an accessory it's 100%.
