Scanner SDR Antenna Tripod Portable Collapsible by Super Antenna SR1 UHF VHF broadband

I've had this antenna for a few weeks now and I've been really impressed with the performance. I paired it up with a Uniden Home Patrol scanner and it effectively doubled my range of listening. I am approx. 22 miles SW of Chicago's Loop and I pick up all the Chicago PD districts with no problem, including the far north districts. Midway Airport tower sounds like it's down the block when it's actually 15 miles away. This antenna really helped with the railroad band as I am now able to pick up all the railroad dispatches in the southern half of the metro area when I could barely hear anything with the built-in antenna. I have the antenna secured to an old metal bird cage stand in the window of my office which is in an addition on the top floor of the house. My office is above the roof line of most of the other houses in the neighborhood so this may be helping. Because this antenna works so well I have no need for an outdoor antenna. This performance is without the radials that can be purchased separately which may boost the range even more.

Materials are good. Folds up. Quick sets up fast. Easy to use. Well made.Worked great with my icon receiver.

Worked ok but only lasted less than a year when the top piece used to extend it fell off

I've tried several antennas with my BCD996P2 scanner sitting in my home. Usually listen to Ham bands and local public service bands. This antenna has blown the other options away in terms of reception quality and signal strength gain. If you're looking for a better antenna in the 2M, 70cm, or public safety 700-900 bands for your base station, but you don't want to attach a large antenna outside, go ahead and get this one. If you can somewhat get reception on the frequency now, you'll likely notice a big difference. Seems a little high priced but has been worth it in reception.One thing of note is that it's rather tall, so make sure you have enough room to fully extend just over 4' tall. I find keeping the lowest extension part down while extending the rest gives me the best reception in the 800MHz band.

Bought to try on my home patrol 2, reception on th hp2 is terrible with the supplied antenna. After assembly I attached 50 ft of cable and set the antenna on the deck. Instantly started getting hits on stations that I knew were ther because I could pick them up on my twenty year old radio shack scanner. This antenna make the hp2 worth keeping in my scanner / radio line up. Ordered the MR 642 radial set to add to this antenna, can’t wait to hook up other radios and give this antenna a workout.

This is a great antenna. I have a 12" cord and its just sitting on a table in my living room (for now) in the same room as my computer and TV. I get agencies from all over southern maine and very clear. Just learning, but I can say this antenna is a very good start.

It a great antenna you can set up outside for scanning and is pretty durable. I use it all the time when outside.
