Judas Priest Defenders Of The Faith
Defenders of the Faith defines the genre of metal. This album is pure, and epic. The tracklist is: Freewheel Burning, Jawbreaker, Rock Hard Ride Free, The Sentinel, Love Bites, Eat Me Alive, Some Heads Are Gonna Roll, Night Comes Down, Heavy Duty, and Defenders of the Faith, which has a connection with Heavy Duty. It includes two bonus tracks: Turn On Your Lights, which was recorded during the "Turbo Sesson" , which it is a nice slow song, and Heavy Duty/Defenders of the Faith Live, which sounds very epic and modern. This is a fan favorite album. Even a song "Freewheel Burning" made an appearance on the video game "Grand Turismo 4" for it's fast pace racing concept. Jawbreaker is an epic, fast paced song, simular to "The Sentinel". "Rock Hard Ride Free" is a fast, epic song, that even sounds like it could be in a cool 80's flick, it jus has that cool classic sound to it. "The Sentinel", oooooooohhhhhhhh The Sentinel, no words can describe how epic this song is! "Love Bites" has a dark and epic sound to it. No emotion, but yet lots of it. This is pure Priest! "Eat Me Alive" is a smooth, but yet, very rough song lyric wise, this song seems more like a song for "Screaming For Vengance". It's a good song, but some parts don't go with the rest of the album. "Some Heads Are Gonna Roll" has a classic 80's feel to it, lots of action, but calm. You just can't stop listening! "Night Comes Down" is a very nnice slow song for the album. It's very diffrent from the rest of the album, but yet it just goes with it. Just think of "Stained Class" and it's simular setup with "Beyond The Realms Of Death". Slow but EPIC! "Heavy Duty" and " Defenders Of THe Faith" are put together. Kind of like "The Hellion" and "Electric Eye" on the "Screaming For Vengance" album. Very epic, and heavy duty has the "Bad Ass'feel of the song "Iron Man". By all means, this album should be at the top of your list! This is "The Metal Album", this defines the genre in an epic way, so if you're a rock fan or any sub genre of rock fan, you will like this album. It is pure and EPIC!Defenders of the Faith (Exp)

It is the Priest!
It's the Priest, enough said. Out of all the Priest records, I would rank Defenders of the Faith in the middle tier. That said, I still love this album and this 30th anniversary remaster is a nice addition for any Priest fan. I already had a download of Defenders from iTunes but thought I would pick this up as a cd set. The remaster sounds good to me and the live concert songs are a nice addition. My favorite songs on this album are Free Wheel Burning and the Sentinel. I love the Sentinel, it is a great metal song. The CD set is cool as it is like the old days with cool cover, and picture inside. I miss the days of going to the record store, picking up the album, going home and listening to the record while checking out the cover. This CD set brought back a little of the old times with the cover and inside photo. For any Priest fan this is a great opportunity to get a cd that maybe you haven't listened to in a while and enjoy listening to some songs for the first time in a long time. I listen to Priest a lot, I just haven't listened to this album in a while and glad I get a chance to get back into the album through this set.

Judas Priest..."Defenders Of The Faith"...1984 & 2001 Remastered with Extra Tracks
This album was recorded in 1983 & was released in early January 1984. My TOP favorite songs on this CD are # 5 "Love Bites (In the Dead Of Night)", # 10 "Defenders Of the Faith" AND the Bonus Track "Turn On Your Light" which is EXCELLENT, in my opinion. I also forgot to mention "Rock Hard Ride Free" which was quite familiar to me.& it's right up there w/ the other songs I just mentioned. The # 8 song "Night Comes Down" is good & seems more mellow like "Turn On Your Light" does. "Jawbreaker" is pretty good as is "Freewheel Burning", BOTH of these songs seem similar to me. The # 6 song "Eat Me Alive" is probably my LEAST favorite & "Some Heads Are Gonna Roll" is pretty good. I like this album, but I think I like Judas Priest on their Seventies (1976-1979) music preferably...Not as loud as they were in the Eighties. I just forgot to mention that I LOVE "British Steel" from 1980. "Point of Entry" from 1981 isn't too bad either. I've yet to hear OR buy 1982's "Screaming For Vengeance", even though I've heard a lot of good things about it from other people. Back to 1984, I forgot to mention that the Live in Concert version of "Heavy Duty / Defenders Of the Faith" is also pretty good. The LIVE version of "Defenders Of the Faith" is Much Longer than the STUDIO version is.

One powerfull album
Both Screaming for Vengance and Defenders of the Faith are powerful gut wrenching albums. These are true masterpieces and the bonus tracks on either remastered version of these albums are true gems. They were ballads and Turn on Your Light is one of the most beautiful songs that I ever heared from a Metal Band. Some Heads are Gonna Roll and Rock Hard Ride Free are anthems. The Guitar on all of these songs is supurb.I want to mention that The Sentinel is a song that reminds me about the Mexican Motion Picture of Pedro Navaja. He was a lone figure who with a blade killed all who opposed him and condemned to Hell died a violent death. In the Film he dies after killing his scorned wife who shoots him at the same second that he stabs her also in passionate rage.Take These Chains is a great Ballad when Night Comes Down is a dark ballad of loneleyness that is just as amazing and Fever is a passionate ballad. Jawbreaker reminds me of comic characters such as the giant in the Amazing Colossal Man and War of the Colossal Beast. You've Got another Thing Comming is an anthem when The Hellion/Electric Eye is a Sience Fiction epic.I am happy that someone already wrote about Love Bites being about Vampires. Listening to that song today made me feel the same way.
