Does the job and inexpensive
L brackets are used to mount cameras with heavy (often zoom) lenses on tripods in portrait mode - i.e. with the camera vertical. Nor are they optional, as a normal mounting will simply not be strong enough to hold the camera and it will rotate until the lens points towards the ground. Manfrotto make an L Bracket available here for £119. This one is far less expensive, easy to assemble, holds the camera very firmly and seems to me robust enough to last long term. The bracket will have to be loosened but (on my camera) not removed completely to change the camera battery if the battery slot is in the camera base, but that is true of the more expensive L Brackets too. I am pleased to have acquired such a functional item at such a reasonable price.

Love it, just annoying changing batteries
Grear beach, the screw and structure is very secure and not let me down so far. Yes it adds additional weight to the camera but I love being able to easily swap between landscape and portrait and is a better replacement than the standard one I got with my tripod.Only reason I didn’t put 5 stars, is because as a Nikon user I would have loved it to be a little shorter alone the bottom which would allow me to remove and replace the battery with the mount still attached. At the moment it’s a bit annoying to have to take it off when out shooting to change the battery.

I won’t trust an expensive camera or lens on this bracket.
This bracket comes in two parts, presumably to keep postage low. The downside to this is it joins with two tiny grub screws. You are faced with the dilemma of over tightening and the aluminium snapping or just tightening which means the bracket is loose and wobbly.I added a locking agent to try and give some stability but it was wobbling again by its second outing.I use expensive mirrorless cameras and wanted this for a professional use. Very dissatisfied.I would of happily paid more for this to of been manufactured in one piece.

Wanted one of these for ages.
Great for that quick mount or change of orientation, worth the price and well made.

Parts didn’t assemble correctly
The cap head screw heads are larger than the holes they assemble into, so they bind up with the hole, the Allen key provided spins in the hexagon of the cap screw which damages both the cap screw and the key, rendering them both useless. Fortunately I’m an engineer and have the equipment to correct this, basically correct sized screw, anyone who doesn’t have ability will find this product problematic, I would advise avoiding this product, I’m very dissatisfied.
