Made My Black Cloth Seats Look New!
I have a 15-year-old MX5 convertible. I keep it in showroom condition. Immaculate without a blemish. Because I live in the desert, I prefer cloth seats to leather because leather are hard to live with in the summer heat.My cloth seats were in great condition. No aging. But they didn't have that "new" look to them. I'd been looking for something to do about it and was thinking of getting seat covers. I was at the auto store one day and there on the shelf was "Thread" by Chemical Guys. I LOVE Chemical Guys. I use their VRP product on my convertible soft top can couldn't be happier with it. So I grabbed a bottle of Thread.Did the application. Actually did 3 coats. My seats look TERRIFIC. Just what I was looking for. Now when I open my car door, my seats look showroom new too.I've seen a video on YouTube that questioned the waterproofing qualities of "Thread." I never spill anything on my seats so I am not worried about whether the product exceeds expectations on waterproofing. I was looking for something that returned my black cloth seats to that "new" look and I found exactly what I wanted with "Thread."I really love Chemical Guys.

This product actually does work as promised!
Works exactly as described! I tried it out on an old dirty outdoor cushion. Now it goes on the new truck seats.

Saved my shoes
Just fyi, this doesn’t make stuff water proof, but I think it does help repel liquid and prevent staining. I spilled some red steak juice all over my new creamy white, cloth Adidas which I had treated with HydroThread. I washed them immediately with a little dish soap and a toothbrush and all the red came out. I feel like without the Hydro Thread they would have been ruined. I’m still only giving it 4 stars because of the way this stuff is marketed. Anything cloth is still going to absorb liquid. And after watching some other reviews on YouTube, this doesn’t live up to its marketing.

Saved me from disaster
My canned beverage exploded when I opened it. Anything that hit my seats puddled and was easily wiped up - thanks chemicalguys. I'm satisfied enough to spend time and review this thing positively. This product is an aide to lessen damage on fabric surfaces from liquid, not some miracle product that you can spray and automatically stops everything like a plastic sheet. The instructions downplay it a bit, but you really have to evenly work this product in to be successful. Car fabric is porous, so the goal is to spread this product on the fabric and pores to ensure puddling. Some tips that worked for me.....1) cover all non-targeted surfaces, cause it's gonna get everywhere2) spray liberally on your car fabric and use a horsehair brush to work the product in. Concentrate on seams and stitching. Spray enough to cover everything, but not overly saturated so your seat looks wet. Spray some on the brush too and rub the product around your seat. When you think you covered it, do one more pass and this should count as one coat. Be meticulous on your seats and take it a section at a time.3) let it dry completely, then complete another full pass*treat this like you are trying to cover not only the fabric, but to rub the product into the seams and pores, like painting some rough, unfinished wood. You need multiple passes to make sure you get it properly covered. As much as I emphasized to spray. I used 1/5 of the bottle on a compact SUV interior.15/10. Will buy again.

Like magic
This stuff works exactly as it says it does. Follow the directions exactly as specified and you’ll have water proofed seats. Doesn’t leave a bad smell but does leave a nice clean feeling.

Flat out does not work
I had high hopes for this product given the price and promotional videos. I should've trusted the reviews I saw on YouTube that said this basically did nothing because it's true. After thoroughly coating the seats in a car and rubbing it in with a brush, I waited a full day and came back and did another coat. You have to use tons of this product to get it even. I'd say you'd be lucky to get 2 cars out of this one bottle. After letting the 2nd coat cure for a full 24 hours I went out with some water to test it. I poured a small amount of water gently on the seat and for a split second I was impressed until the water soaked right into the seat .5 seconds later. There were SOME beads. By some I mean maybe 2% of the smallest drops sat on the surface but the other 98% of the water soaked right into the seat. I also tested it on some shoes thinking maybe the car seats were just not an ideal material. Same results. Given the price tag and the fact that this product does just about nothing I would avoid this unless you like spraying essentially a 30 dollar bottle of water on your seats.
