A book about taking care of your mental health.
I liked that this book taught me so many things I was unaware of about my self & my mental health. I thought the book could of had a little more activities in it that interested me, but that's just me. I like writing activities. There are many activities to try from simple breathing to more complex activities that are trying things like telling yourself you love yourself in the mirror. This book isn't meant to replace therapy. This book is made to go a long with therapy you are already receiving. Learn how to apply mindfulness to help reduce the severity & duration of your depressive episodes. The book is 162 pages, with 2 pages of resources for you, if you feel you need help with your mental health, and 2 pages for an index. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about mental health & tools to help manage it.

Excellent Guide to Building Mindfulness Practices
The author's voice has an accessible, warm, and inviting tone that brings the reader into a safe and supportive relationship to explore mindfulness. Although I have been a meditator and mindfulness practitioner for many years, Ms. Kane's book helped me to deepen my awareness of theory, technique, and helped me bring more exercises and language to my practice. As a therapist, I use mindfulness a lot in my work and this workbook has been a great resource to recommend to my clients to help them continue the work we do together outside of session.

This one is a winner...
As I am a psychologist, I was interested in reviewing this book to see how it addressed mindfulness and depression. I will admit that I haven't finished reading it yet - not the sort of book one rushes through. However, I was so impressed after the first couple of chapters that I bought 3 copies to use in a therapy group I conduct. I am not typically so impressed by self-help books.I must admitted that I was struck by the beauty of the book itself. It is a nice size: not so small that one has to strain to see the print or break the binding to keep the pages open, yet not as big as a lot of the "workbooks" out there. The design and colors used in the book are consistent with its content. The paragraphs are nicely spaced so that one is encouraged to pause but space is not wasted. The writing style also is consistent with mindfulness. It is inviting and suggesting, but never forcing or "should-ing". The author explains depression in a nonjudgmental manner, neither ignoring nor exaggerating the role of biology in this multifaceted condition. The book is a library of gentle explanations and tools that will not overwhelm someone who is deeply depressed. At the same time, it is not simple-minded, i.e. it is not full of platitudes or statements of the obvious.Lastly, the price is unusually reasonable. This is a pleasant surprise and I commend the author and publisher for making the book more accessible to people who may, temporarily or permanently, have limited incomes. Thank you.

Great ecept for sticky large fingerprints on both covers
I have not read it yet but looks like what I was looking for.My issue thought is there was sticky clear fingerprints on front and back of the book. Like whomever packaged had coffee or icing all over there hand. The rest of my order did not have anything on it tho. Not really a. Knock on author or seller but I needed to mention somewhere

An important book for those suffering from depression
Great book, well written, delivered logically, simply and the workbook aspect is excellent. Bridges the gap between esoteric spiritual readings that leave one wondering how to accomplish and self help books that talk a lot but leave you without much to hold on to. All positive techniques that are easy to understand and reinforced with every lesson which of course is the foundation of moving forward, breathing and relaxing. This should be a foundation book made available to therapists and teachers. A good book for them to learn interacting skills with students or patients that are hard to reach.

Excellent book.
The concept of mindfulness can seem overwhelming. Where does one start? What exactly does mindfulness mean? How can it help me? This book provides clear, concise information on the use of mindfulness. The explanations and questions are very easy to follow and understand. The author takes a complex subject, breaks it down, and explains next steps. It would be a useful tool to both practitioners and those who wish to explore a path using mindfulness.

Decent strategies
Decent strategies, I highlighted and book marked a few to return to.I have worked with mindfulness previously so half of these weren't new to me, but I still appreciated the stories and tie ins to depression. I tended to use them for anxiety, but as this book suggests, they can be modified or intentionally used for depression as well.

Not just for depression
I wanted this book so I could learn the mindfulness skills, not only for depression which is mostly under control, but also for anxiety and stress. This book is easy to read and super helpful for someone who hasn’t learned the seven principles of mindfulness yet.
