Canson Graduate Mixed Media Art Pad A5: This is a perfect size for sketching, smaller watercolour work, charcoal and pastels. I find larger pads are a bit intimidating, especially if you’re just doodling, with artists paper being so expensive I’m always fretful that I’m wasting a “whole sheet” if I’m not being totally productive with it, a smaller page makes me feel much more inclined to get stuck in.This paper is good quality, at 200 grams per square metre it’s one of the lighter grade art pads but it’s plenty dense enough to be able to use both sides without any leaching of colour/moisture through, while being light and small enough to lug about in a bag or rucksack for a quick bit of sketching if creativity should strike! Each page can be easily removed from the pad without disrupting other pages, should you create that masterpiece…The paper has a flat texture with a very light grain, making ideal for watercolours but competent for the majority of media. At £5.99 for 20 (40 double sided) pages I think this is a great buy and I’m delighted to have it.

I hadn’t heard of this brand before but they prove to make sketch pads of excellent quality. Really happy with this paper, its perfect for sketching in pencil, charcoal and even light ink work. I haven’t tried anything else but probably wouldn’t recommend anything heavier, water based as stated in the description, you might be able to get away with watercolour pencils.Spiral bound so great for keeping everything together, a little harder to remove pages if needed.Great quality paper and a good amount for the price at £18.50, would recommend.

I tried every medium I possess on this paper - including fibre tip pens, which will usually bleed through anything - and it passed with flying colours: watercolour, graphite, ink, acrylic, felt tip - all fine. The only semi-failure was with watercolour washes, which is hardly surprising at this price point.For a do-it-all mixed media pad, it performs remarkably well and is very reasonably priced. Recommended.

I got this for my son who takes art and design in GCSE. He usually uses bigger sized watercolour pads, but they are too big for him to carry around. This A5 sized pad is ideal for him to paint on the go and fits nicely in his bag.It's a light grain white paper pad and it is very good quality. It’s nice and smooth, and it’s miles better than anything he used before from the supermarkets and such. It’s perfect for dry technique and the colours work well together on paper.Overall, my son is very pleased with this watercolour pad, he said it’s exactly what he needed, and more. It’s available on Amazon for £5.26 (at the time of writing), which seems like a good price to pay for the quality.
