the best brand
I've had it for years and it's never given me a single error.

Excellent hard drive at an excellent price
I love western digital and I love this hard drive. I put this in a computer to install my steam games, epic games, blizzard games, etc on it and it has been working just fine. I plan to buy a lot more of these (I have a lot of computers). This hard drive feels like the sweet spot for performance, quality, storage capacity, and price right now.

Drive works fine after it's recognized by Windows 10
This is the hard drive only. No mounting screws, instructions, or cables are included. You'll need an SATA cable. My Dell desktop computer had an open slot with brackets and a free power connector. I used two screws that I already had to install the drive.I installed it as the second drive in my computer that's running Windows 10. It isn't a plug-and-play device right out of the box. When you start your computer after installing the drive, Windows doesn't recognize it. The new drive will appear in the Device Manager under Disk drives, but it won't appear in the This PC window. That's because the new drive needs to have a letter assigned to it.Before you install the drive, download the WD Blue User Guide from the Western Digital web site. Also write down the serial number on the drive label because you'll need it to register the drive with WD for the warranty. To assign a drive letter and format it as the second drive using Windows 10:1. Right-click the Windows (Start) button and select Disk Management.2. Follow the Partitioning/Formatting instructions under 5 - Alternate Instructions for Installing a Drive (Windows 7/Windows Vista) in the WD Blue User Guide.WD hasn't updated the guide for Windows 8 or 10, but those instructions worked for me. After assigning a drive letter and doing the quick format from the Computer Management window, the drive was recognized and appeared in the This PC window, ready for use.Other reviews mention a clicking sound coming from the drive. I heard some clicking after I copied a lot of files to the drive. The clicking stopped after a while, so the drive isn't defective. It's a good drive at a reasonable price.

First One Was DOA
A previous 1TB WD drive died after two years. Sent it in for warranty replacement, but replacement was denied due to "tampering" -- which never happened. While I would have preferred to purchase another brand, WD still has the best overall reliability, so I went with a 2TB replacement.First drive arrived promptly, but was DOA. Neither Windows, MiniTools, nor WD's own Data Lifeguard software could recognize it. Returned immediately to Amazon and a replacement arrived the following day. Installed and working fine -- so far. I will update if problems occur. No drive is 100% perfect forever. But WD's reneging on the 1TB drive's warranty is troubling. A warranty is worthless if it is not honored.

Excellent performance and storage size for the price
I just got this drive, but so far so good! Drive comes unformatted, which is fine. I formatted and was immediately moving data over to it. I've generally always been a fan of Western Digital drives for their quality, price, and performance.Installation was easy, the product arrived quickly and in good packaging. I will update my review if I have any issues, but it has been a very long time since I've had a drive misbehave or die on me.

Another reliable WD Blue
Quiet, great value, and reliable from experience. Purchased this 2TB WD Blue to replace 5-year-old 500GB WD Blue that worked well but was too small for my current needs. The 64MB cache on this new one gives an improved response over the 16MB cache that was on the old one. Used a free version of EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard to clone this as the new OS drive (the c: drive). The Acronis cloning software on the WD site just isn't as good; it wouldn't allow me to add the unallocated space on the new drive to the system partition. The EaseUS software allowed me to make the partitions I wanted.

Unbelievable Differance
My son decided to build his own gaming system after being so disappointed with his past computer not being able to handle the games he plays. No problems, and we have had this for a while now.
