wasted potential - too many flaws
The basic device is fine, but it was ruined by a lack of attention to detail.1. The packaging is not strong enough to withstand shipping. The first unit I ordered arrived with a large dent in the sheet metal.2. The normal quietness of the unit is ruined by some kind of problem with the vibration isolation between the compressor and the case. The compressor assembly seems to intermittently make contact with the sheet metal, causing a very loud vibration sound. You can whack on the right side of the case and make it go away for a while, but it always comes back. (It's possible that this is another shipping damage problem, but it's mentioned in several other reviews.)3. If you leave the drain plug in, the water slinger sound is very loud. However you can't quite get the plug out once the unit is in the window and you realize this. Also, the drain hole is too close to the front and will probably drip on your windowsill. It will also be a hassle to dry out the base before putting the unit away for the winter.4. The touch button controls are horrible - hard to operate intentionally, yet easy to hit by accident. The only way to see the current setting is to look at the lights, which go out very quickly. You have to change a setting to get the lights back on. If you accidentally turn off WiFi (especially easy since that touch button is on the corner), you have to go through the painful pairing process again. You can't tell the difference between the unit being turned off and it being on and in energy saving mode. Finally, there is an annoying beep every time you touch a button.5. It's very easy to get the remote control out of sync with the actual unit settings, and there's no clear way to get it back in sync.6. The WiFi function and app are as slow and clumsy as everyone says.

Quiet and powerful
In the south we deal with humidity a lot moreso than hot blistering days so our window units may run in the winter if it's 70 and humid and this GE profile was easy to install and get sealed up. I like the updated remote control, temperature setting are easy and the quiet mode is amazing at maintaining the room temperature. I feel like it was definitely worth the money. As far as performance, when it's time to cool a room down in a hurry, this machine does it quickly and efficiently. You won't regret the purchase

Quiet as advertised, but leaks!
Note: If I could give 3.5 stars - I would. I've had the air conditioner for a little over a week now and I'm currently loving the device! However, it has been leaking water from the bottom front area and I don't know how to make it stop. I would have thought that the air conditioner should have been leaking out the water from the back end - not the front. This could prove to be an unsightly issue as the windowsill is wood and I'm renting so now my only option really is to put a towel down until I find a better solution.PROS:1) VERY quiet. Instead of sounding like a motorcycle being revved in the room, the sound is more like a purr and is very low - even on the "high" setting.2) It's my first time owning a "smart" AC - so it really has been clutch! Loving the app as after setup it is relatively user friendly, but we will see how it works when I'm at the office vs. the next room over.3) Honestly...i have to reiterate. SO QUIET. Literally the quietest window unit I've ever come across.CON:1) Upon receipt, I noticed that there were BLACK scratches on the bottom of the air conditioner. Since I purchased as "NEW" this should not have been the case the second I take it out of the box....on top of a rug.2) (See above) re: leaking from the front end of the air conditioner.3) App was annoying to set up with the WIFI. I had to call customer service and they were able to assist, but I was essentially having issues linking it with the network. It kept timing out on me, even while on the call with the customer service rep and I had to CONSTANTLY press the WIFI button to make sure it didn't time out.4) The lighting on the AC could be brighter. Unless if the room is pitch black, hard to see the text and lights on the buttons.I think it's been a good purchase, despite the cons above. Hopefully it's sturdy enough to last me a couple of years.

Cool and Quiet
With NO exaggeration, this is a very quiet AC. It's certainly the most quiet I've ever owned. Its so quiet that we mistakenly left it on because we didn't hear it - for a weekend we were away. And a few times after that. I had to attach a night light to let me know when that switch was on. And yes it works very well to cool the room to whatever setting I choose. I think this General Electric AC is every bit as good as the more expensive Friedrich I have. I'm very happy with Cool and Quiet unit. Easy to install too..
