moist but firm rye bread. Not quite like a Finnish rye pocket but not like a Mestemacher
Rehe bread was a surprising experience. It looks like an Orowheat "bread thin" from the USA, tastes like a Mestemacher whole rye bread from Germany, but has the firmness of a Finnish rye pocket (albeit not as dry). I've never seen a bread like it in the USA or in Europe. It is 65% rye flour instead of 46% in the Eesti Pagar rye pockets. But it has less fiber and doesn't have the "rye berries" (unground rye) of the rye pockets. It has a sweetness to it even though it only has 1 gram of sugar (the rye pockets also have 1g of sugar). The Rehe is 110 calories and is 50g per "loaf" vs the rye pockets being 57g per "loaf" and 140 calories. I enjoy the Rehe 1x every 2 days or so as a treat vs the rye pockets I eat 3 daily like I did in Finland. I prefer the Rehe to the Mestemacher because Mestemacher is too moist and falls apart when you try to hold it like an open faced sandwich for my liking. That said, I would eat Mestemacher over any USA made rye bread. It is also important to know that the Rehe is not a sour tasting bread. Again, this differs from a rye pocket from Finland and even the Eesti Pagar rye pockets are not as sour as I would expect in Finland. That is important to know so you are not disappointed. It is an Estonian bread made in a factory using the same recipe for 100+ years if I recall what I read on the amest.com web site. So it is Nordic but it never claims to be Finnish. I happily give it 5 stars for being yummy and something I continue to buy. My comments are not criticisms. They are only my interpretation of the characteristics of the bread. How you interpret those characteristics is up to you obviously. For me, I interpret both the Eesti Pagar rye pockets and Rehe to be 5 stars and part of my daily life.

Delicious Estonian bread!
Maybe the best rye bread I've ever had and that means a lot since I've eaten rye bread my whole life. Also I'm from country (Finland) where grocery stores are full of different types of rye bread. Thus, giving 5 stars is a tough one but well deserved in this case!

but we all need some good carbs every now and then
I am having my low carb diet, but we all need some good carbs every now and then. So I found this. Has healthy complex carbs instead of simple carbs. Added some nova lox and it was delicious. My 4 year old son loves it with cream cheese and cucumber pieces. Hard to find healthy stuff them to love these days. Also delicious with soups and looks great as appetizer. Love it.

The best on this side of the pond
Moved from Finland to US as a teen. Found myself in a pickle with no access to finnish kind of rye bread. Desperation to cure my pregnancy cravings forced me to search online and I am so happy I did. The dark rye bread (as well as their rye pockets) could've fooled me for the finnish kind (although that doesn't say much since the Estonians and Finns are similar in many ways). In short, I love it, my American husband loves it, and my 2 year old loves it. Shipping takes 2-3 weeks, but my purchases haven't taken that long. Will most definitely be buying more.
