Fables 2

Absurdly creative
This is an absurdly creative graphic novel equal in calibre to the works of Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman. The oversize deluxe edition with gorgeous dust cover is a fabulous way of reading this sweeping epic of fable fantasy for mature audiences, especially if you are a first time reader like me. When you consider the price of comics these days, this is a high value way of collecting this series since each edition has close to 10 comics and can be found on Amazon at about 40% of MSRP (or around $16 each + shipping). The comics are printed on high quality paper and the print quality is superb. The binding is glued which is not a problem given the size of the publication; it is of course problematic for the larger DC omnibus or absolute editions. Sometimes the comic is printed a little too close to the binding making it difficult to read, but these occurrences are rare. This a much high value product than the DC archives series which retails for $49.95 or higher. My only real complaint is the use of multiple artists on the same fable character across this epic. This normally would not be a problem if the artwork were equal across artists and if there was little variation in how the characters are portrayed. Some artwork is brilliant and some downright crude. Finally some of the stories are trite and should have been omitted. But overall we can ignore these disappointments. I definitely will collect the entire series.

Bigby and Snow take a holiday...
... and other stories. The adventures of the Fables on our world continue with quite a few different stories to choose from, from a short tale of Jack's encounter with Death during the Civil War, through an inquisitive journalist determined to expose the Fable community, to Blue Boy's tale about the Fables' last stand on the Homelands, among others. While your enjoyment may vary depending on your investment with each character, you will no doubt appreciate the evolving romantic arc between Snow and Bigby as they go on a holiday, together. However, to my mind, this arc was rushed to a certain conclusion when I would have preferred that the author had built the relationship more slowly, profiting from the witty banter between these two characters after Bigby's reveal in Book One.There is also a short (fully written) story at the end about Bigby's days in the Homelands, his first encounter with Snow, and how she later invites him to Fabletown. Truth be told, I think it was probably the richer story of Book Two and I look forward to more short stories like this one in future volumes.Goodreads: Rating's between a 3 and a 4 because of the multiple (disjointed) stories as I usually prefer an overarching story-arc. I'll leave it at 3/5.

Great Art! Great Book! Good Price!
I bought the first three hardcover deluxe additions books of the series as a gift for my son. I did not read them, but I like the premise of the story. the book binding is tight and the pages are semi-glossy with nice artwork. The book was well-packaged and wrapped in non-stick cellophane so the paper cover would remain undamaged.Fables is a series of graphic novels about characters from fairy tales who are kicked out of fairy-tale land and have to tough it out in the here and now of our world. I have heard that the deluxe books are created when 10 books of the original DC Comics are finished. Right now there are nine books in total. We ordered the first three Fables Deluxe Edition books as a gift for our son. He has had the books a little over a week and has already purchased books 4-6 in the Deluxe Edition series

Love this series!
Many of the books I ordered came with torn pages, torn cover pages but I'm still years later happy with my purchase, if you're an avid comic collector for aesthetic be cautious of torn pages, other than that still love them!

Yes!!!
This series is keeping me coming back for more! It's fantasies made real! The artwork is fantastic and I love the humor and all the characters. I can never guess what will happen next and I love it. If you're into the darker side of fantasies or you want to see a realistic twist to your childhood tales, this series is for you! My only complaint is the binding. Some of the art is lost in the spine of the book. It's very minimal and doesn't ever impact anything important but it is still an imperfection. Recommended

Beautiful Art Great Story
I was originally introduced to Fables through the Play Station game The Wolf Among Us. I liked it so much that I wanted to read the comic. When I saw that there were special addition hard cover copies I jumped at the chance to get them. I always prefer hardcover books to paperback for two reasons. 1. They are far more durable, and 2. they just look cooler and more sophisticated. I absolutely love these books. The stories are amazing and the artwork is beautiful. There are funny moments and extremely dramatic moments in the stories that will keep readers hooked until the very end. I know I could not put this book down!

If you plan on buying the books get the Deluxe editions!
Considering that these cost roughly the same as buying the TPB counterparts - it is well worth it to get the deluxe editions, as the bindings are much much better. Many of the TPBs that I have had are coming loose on the front pages - and it is not from mishandling them.Anyway, I personally love the series, the covers are AMAZING, and the artwork (of the actual "book" portion) is quite good as well (reminds me of a more refined style of classic comics). The first few series are really good and do a good job of drawing you in to the world that he has created.

the paper is of great quality as is the ink
This book is larger than the average graphic novel (in height and width), the paper is of great quality as is the ink, far better than the paperbacks.

I love the story as they are real fairy tales and ...
Since buying the 1st and 2nd vol I've been glued to them, I love the story as they are real fairy tales and not modern childish stupidity made by Disney, this is how it should be done so I give it 5 stars

Excellent!!
Edition 2 collects 8 issues of Fables (#11-18) and includes a short story centered on Bigby Wolf. It continues from the first edition with some one shots also thrown into the mix. All in all it is a thoroughly entertaining read and I would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone.
