The only gnat traps that work
The generic ones don't work as well.

Didn't work. Couldn't open most to add packet, siezed up plastic. Not one fly!!!
Couldn't open most of the containers to add packet, siezed up plastic. Not one fly was caught from the9 containers. Several of the baffles that prevent the fly from escaping were broken and non functional.Price was not an issue, but still a waste of money. On a side note: Found the culprit: gnats were laying eggs in our snake plant. Removed ALL of the dirt, washed the plant in a lemon soap/water mixture and replanted in new dirt. Purchased sticky fly ribbons toremove remaining gnats.

Great Product
This product worked just great in catching numerous fungus gnats in a large houseplant. I placed an apple using the lure ingredient included at the base of the plant and set the other one on a nearby table. Numerous gnats were caught in both. One apple trapped a large ant and another large insect. I ordered 2 more apples to insure the safety of my other plants. One lid was difficult to open but thus didn’t prevent further purchases. Caution, do not open the tiny bag containing the scent used to lure insects. Simply place inside apple with warm water.

Well they do work somewhat
Fruit flies are about the most annoying, obnoxious pests! I know they like the color red and they are not the brightest in the insect world (thankfully). I had picked cherry tomatoes and within 2 hours I had fruit flies in the house on the tomatoes. I had none when I brought them in. The same goes for fresh picked strawberries. Then the fun begins...trying to get rid of these pests! I finally found the red apple trap I was looking for. I got a late quart of strawberries. (in November which is unusual for the northeast.) They still were juicy & had good flavor inspite of a couple of frosts. I ate 2/3's of them before the fun began. I had purchased these traps earlier this year, so I set them up. It took about 4 days before the fool bugs decided to investigate. When they found them, I had the fool fruit flies inside. We are now fruit fly free. I think I could get the same or better results with just a bit of red wine inside the little red apples as that has worked well for me in a "homemade" and a bit unsightly trap. I like the trap shape, size and color, all a plus. The bait..EH! I would buy the traps for the "little red apples" but use a little wine inside. It was worth the price because the traps look nicer than "homemade." The flies are not smart enough to be able to figure out how to get out of them.

old plastic, can't take apart to fill
I had bought a pair of these at a local store, very cute, came aparteasily to fill, worked good on my own bait. Very efficient design to catch fruit flies. So I ordered 3 sets of 2 from amazon. This must have been an old batch, very hardto unscrew apart to put in bait and water for the 1st pair, put grease on edges to getapart better next time. the 2nd pair, would not come apart, not even to get a knief bladein to pry, whacked them on counter- nope- bounced on floor nope, sort of leaned onthem sideways, finally got apart, but even with grease on edges, once put back together-super hard to get apart, and this is not good, for to empty the dead and stinky fruit fliesout of them you are going to have to wiggle them around and turn and try to open, whichwill get yucky stuff all over... Ick! The last pair, one opened OK, the other not at all, still haventgot it open. I expect more after paying $24 for these little things. Maybe these are an old batchthat the plastic shrunk as it aged. As even greasing them doesnt help... I had read reviews before I bought as I usualy do, and I did see one review that couldnt get theirs open and was very annoyed. I thought what a wimp!... but now I see they were right!!. Some open easily like the first ones from someplace other then this seller....these dont... Agh!

Not worth the money.
Fruit flies will be attracted to this apple only if nothing else (food) is around. I also think it does not work as intended. I saw flies go in but then simply walk or fly right out. They do not get trapped. I think the only fly control may be if they are sterilized from the poison otherwise this did not appear to work for us.

The are THE BEST to get rid of those pesky gnats and fruit flies!
We have used these at our office and at home to trap those pesky fruit flies and little gnats that show up after storms, or when sweet, sugary things are left in trash bins. They are truly the most efficient and inconspicuous way to trap those little buggers. Easy to use, easy to clean, and they can be reused. Definitely recommended!
