The New PC Design Loaf pans must have been designed for "The Three Bears" family!
I recently (3/2025) purchased two new PC Loaf pans from Amazon. They came safely double boxed in PC logoed boxes along with the care guide and a blue scraper (new color and design).I pulled out my other two classic PC Loaf pans to compare with the new ones. The new ones are not as long in length as the old ones. They are flared out in the center and tapered towards the ends. When I bake bread, the center pieces will be very wide and over sized compared to the end caps and pieces towards the end. The new pans feel to the touch thinner. I weighed the pans to compare. The new ones were 38.6 oz and 39.4 oz. My oldest pan (#089) weighs 45 oz and my next oldest with the FH logo on the bottom (#010704) weighs 49 oz. Clearly the new ones are thinner!I included pictures to show the pans how they compare in weight as well as turning them over to trace the top lip of the pan and how the three generations compare.I am not pleased with the new design. I don't like how the slices of bread will be of varying size. My thought is that the people who redesigned this new loaf pan obviously dont bake bread from scratch for their family!Just adding a bit of humor here, this new bread pan was designed with the Three Bears in mind! The center pieces will be for Papa Bear who must have the biggest sandwich Mama Bear can make! The tapered down pieces are for the Baby Bears in the family. And the end caps are for Mama Bear who is going low carb and makes sure her family gets fed first. LolHey, PC corporate, ya'll need to return to your old mold for more consistently sized slices of bread!!!As for design, the new loaf pan has less lip to hold onto when removing the loaf from the oven. Not good. Easier to slip from our hands, fall to the ground and break. Though good for PC because the pans will need to be replaced more often. This new pan is not a "Heritage" that we will be passing down to our children. The product is thinner, warped sizes of slices of bread, and thinner handles for holding on to remove from the oven.I'm not going to bother to return the product because the replacements would be the same. I bought two and they are nearly consistent with each other.I will prime these new ones with meat loaves and then use them for baking loaves of bread. I mill my own grains and baked my bread from scratch. Sue Becker of the Bread Beckers taught me 25 years ago the importance of milking grains and baking fresh breads.I wanted to get away from my metal non-stick (toxic) loaf pans and put my PC stoneware into use beyond meatloaf and banana bread. I only had two PC Loaf pans, but wanted to bake 4 loaves at once. By adding two more to my collection, I can bake more efficiently. Goodbye old metal pans!I am very pleased to know that baking with stoneware is not going to add toxins to our whole foods cooking!PCOS, you lost one star from me because of the pan being a weird shape and thinner than your old ones.Time will tell if the new ones will hold up. I will just deal with the different sized pieces of bread. PC, Hopefuly, ya'll will listen to those who actually use your products and work on improving the design of these loaf pans. We want consistently sized slices of bread and your design is what shapes our dough into the finished product! Please listen to us!I am pleased to see these are still MADE IN AMERICA! It's good to know the purchase price is supporting our fellow Americans with jobs and an income to take home to their families so they too can bake and cook at home to feed their families!!!!I look forward to priming my loaf pans and baking bread for my family! I do love the non-stick coating (from meat fats and butter) that builds up over time and the ease of turning out warm loaves of freshly baked breads! I also love how easy it is to clean these pans after I make meat loaf and breads! The last photo is of my two old loaf pans with bread. I made a four loaf recipe and made the other two loaves like french bread shape using my rectangle PC baking pan. I am happy that I can now prepare four loaves of sandwich bread at once!
