Takes a while to "puff" up. But, they work good
They work well as a Green screen and sound barrier!

These panels provide the expected acoustic absorption for the material and look good while doing it.
Small room, flat surfaces everywhere, a microphone picking up reverb. The stage was set to try some acoustic absorption treatment. Not having the material and tools to attempt making my own DIY absorption panels in the midst of quarantine I ordered a 12-pack of these 12" x 12" x 2" foam panels of the mushroom type. They arrived tightly packed through a vacuum seal and required rinsing in water and then air drying for about 2 days, since I don't own an hair dryer, to recover their original shape and size but I can attest to the perfect results after the procedure.I used two cardboard stripes on each panel glued with 3M Super 77 spray adhesive and double contact carpet tape to stick the cardboard to the wall. So far, after a week, all panels are still in their expected positions.Between the 12 panels and carpet on the floor sound has been much improved, reducing the reverb a lot thus making voice capture more intelligible, pleasant, and clean.I believe I still need to do more with the room, for example on those two windows, some more wall space, the corners, and the roof but we'll go little by little as budget and testing go forward. It has even been a success with those not that into the acoustic side of things in my room, these panels look really cool in my opinion and that of others around me.Note: One word of advice. Check the picture with the two (2) panels side by side and notice that they are not exactly symmetric. If you look closely they have an orientation or flow to each mushroom on the panel so you might want to take note of the direction and place them according to your visual design. If you understand what this product is, what it is not, and are already looking for foam panels these won't disappoint at all. I certainly recommend them.

A great look, but inconsistent production meant unusable panels
I love the mushroom design. Looks great when mounted, nice depth and dimension with lighting. But this was marred by inconsistent production, which forced me to buy more sets of panels. Some notes on unwrapping/prep and then the production quality.PREPPING THE PANELS* Absolutely use the dryer method! *You can try leaving them out overnight or longer, but they won't all expand. The instructions suggest using the clothes dryer — wet the panel, wring it out, and put it in the dryer. It works perfectly.I dried several at a time. The instructions say medium heat for 20-25 minutes. That was enough to expand all of them fully.Even though they feel dry, there can still be moisture within the foam, enough to be damp when squeezed. I didn’t want to try mounting them that way, so I dried some longer and let some sit overnight on a towel.MOUNTINGI used the EGINO adhesive for foam panels (ASIN: B09GYKCTNQ) and they worked great. I did 5 per panel as their directions say, and so far everything’s held.INCONSISTENT PRODUCTIONThe big problem was that the panels were not consistent. The bevels on the mushroom design’s top/surface form an hourglass curve. Most of the panels were pretty similar in the distance between the narrowest point of the “hourglass.”But — a number of panels were way off, with that distance being around half as wide, and some came almost to a point, like a pyramid. On several, there were different surface widths within the same panel. (!)I bought 24 panels for the area I needed to cover. Out of 24, there were 7 panels that I couldn’t use. So I had to buy an additional 12-pack. And 3 of those 12 were unusable too. And, you can’t know when they’re compressed. You have to expand them before you can see the final widths.Overall — I’m pleased with the look and I like the panels. But double-check the panels against each other when they’re expanded, before mounting.

Discoloration over time
These work well at absorbing sound and dampening ping in a band room. However, they yellow over time. Quickly. They were a nice clear grey color when I put them up. It has been one year and they are very yellowed. There is NEVER any smoke or fumes of any kind in my band room. Pristine environment. The room has HVAC and is a temperature and humidity controlled space.

Worst Acoustic Foam I've Ever Had
I couldn't be more disappointed in a product even if I tried! I loved the way these foams looked and was happy and excited to order and get them in! But once they got here and I followed the instructions (also not my first rodeo with acoustic foams) and tried one method and waited a few days, then I tried the other method and waited a few days... then I waited a WEEK and they would not puff up. Flat as a piece of paper! And not only that but they were severely misshapen and all different kinds of cuts. I know sometimes cutting the foam you will get different sizes here and there but my God was it horrible!! They were so badly cut I even had one that looked like a deformed struggling to cope with life triangle lol!Once I said screw it and started to adhere them to where I wanted them... NOTHING would make these things stick to the wall... nothing! I've tried it all lol they just fell off! It was actually starting to become hilarious. When they managed to stick for more then a few seconds we tested it out and they didn't do diddly for absorption of sound lol might as well had just opened the door to the room.I was so excited and in the end was severely disappointed... what a waste of time and a waste of money...
