ESR Lightweight Hard Case for iPad 9th Generation (2021), Magnetic Stand, Auto Sleep/Wake, Protective Cover, Black

I had ordered a keyboard folio, but found that while it worked as advertised, I was not using the keyboard except rarely. Plus, it was heavy and awkward to fold back out of the way. So I ordered this lightweight case after reading several promising reviews. This case works perfectly for me. The case seems quite high quality and it easily holds my iPad in a reading/watching position as well as a lower screen-typing position. Plus it is very easy to fold behind the iPad and is very light; exactly what I was looking for. Really happy I purchased it!

I purchased my first iPad and wanted a cover for it. The vast majority of reviews for this case are positive so, I went for it. The case fits securely, looks good and doesn't interfere with any features/functions of the iPad. When one closes the cover, there is an audible click from the iPad, indicating that the unit has been put to sleep. Upon opening the cover, the screen wakes immediately and at this point, one can enter their password/code or, rest a finger/thumb on the home button and let the iPad read the print of the finger/thumb. There are magnets in the cover that facilitate the putting to sleep/waking of the iPad. I'm very impressed with this case, especially for the price, if not dropped repeatedly, slid across the floor or a sidewalk, I see no reason the case won't last as long as the iPad.

Using basic iPad 10.2 inch, ninth (9th) generation. This case is perfect for basic cosmetic protection while adding minimal weight. There's nothing I'd change about it for my purposes. For a lightweight cosmetic-protecting case, this is all you need and there's no need to spend more. The trifold stand works great on solid surfaces. For your lap or laying in bed, I recommend a pillow stand (Lamicall makes some great ones). This case works perfectly with the pillow stand I bought. One thing I'd appreciate is a magnet that keep's the flap connected to the back in the fully open state.After about 6 months of use, a small piece of plastic that surrounds the sleep/power button broke off; not from a drop, but just because I believe it's an area that requires the plastic to be relatively thin due to the geometry of the sleep button position. I reached out to ESR and told them of the situation and they are replacing my product free of charge. Big fan of ESR and their products. I've bought iPads for my partner and a parent and one of these cases to go along with it.

The fit and overall quality is good, and the magnetized closing and folding display are also good. My complaint is that this case and two others that we tried are not magnetized to stay open with the top/lid stuck to the bottom when fully opened - the lid/top just flops around and must be held to the back/bottom with your hand or lap. I love everything else about this case.

Works well, would purchase again if needed

I love this case. I had one for my old iPad and it did get worn on the edges after 3+ years of constant use but I loved it so the new iPad got one too as soon as I had it set up! The case is light weight, stands up to a lot of daily use and versatile in the ways it can set up. I also like the color, navy blue this time. The very reasonable price just adds to the desirability of this iPad case.

Overall very nice case and great customer service to back it up. Have bought multiple cases from them and had no issues until my most recent one but I believe I may have just got a bad one out the batch since the corners broke fairly easily. Otherwise very nice case and held up great over time. Customer service took care of us for the bad case with a nice new one.

I’ve had similar cases for other iPads that lasted longer. I’ve had this one since September 2022. I noticed today, after no drops that part of one of the corners has broken away, no longer allowing that iPad to snap in place. I’ve had it a year and 4 months, much shorter than the lives of previous cases and suddenly noticed the break.Disappointed in the lack of longevity.
