Awesome for what it is!
I love it for quick clean ups and spot cleaning. This works great on hardwood or flat surfaces. It works ok on my low pile rugs. Does not work very well on deep pile or heavy plush carpet. This just vacuums, no agitation to lift stuck or rug debris. Small and light enough for quick car vacuuming too! I see no difference between the makita blue vs the white one other than the price. Its not a show piece, so save $40.00 and blue it is! I do wish it came with a brush attachment. Overall, very convenient and works well on flat surfaces.

pricey but very handy
I am sure all of you know by know that if you do not already own an 18 volt Makita battery and charger, before you buy this vacuum, you are going to buy the most expensive portable vacuum in the world. And the suction is as low as any cheep vacuum on the market. The benefit of this vacuum is that it can be used daily in the house, to pick up light crumbs, and when it's time to clean out the car, just pull it apart and start cleaning. Don't expect it to get the heavy mud. I found a way to work around this "battery-charger" problem. Amazon has the Makita cordless drill (including one battery and charger) on sell at a price cheeper then the battery and charger by itself. So, I ordered the screw gun at it's discounted price and then ordered this vacuum. Comparing prices, I actually got a free screw-gun and a free battery, compared to the cost of ordering a charger and battery separately. This is a very handy vacuum for a quick clean-up, my wife loves it.

Great Vacuum
I have 2 Makita batteries from their drills. I have bought several of their products to use the batteries with. To echo other comments, even thought I think it's clear in the description that this does not come with batteries, make sure you already own Makita batteries before purchasing this. This is a great cordless vacuum. I have 2 dogs that shed a ton. I have the Roomba, but it can't get under the couch. This is thin enough to reach all the way under the couch. It easily picked up all the dog hair and mud from their feet. I am very pleased with this vacuum and would recommend to anyone who has the Makita batteries. It's also worth it if you add in the charge of the battery.

Perfect for the shop and camping
I use this in my garage as well as in my tt while camping. It has great power and works really well. It’s ideal because it uses the same battery as our other Makita tools.

Vacuum Good - Shipping Bad
The shipping took forever, over a month & I kept getting emails saying the arrival date changed (or was indefinite, offering me an option to recieve a refund & they'd go ahead & cancel/refund my order if they didn't hear from me). THAT part sucked because I've been wanting this vacuum for a while (also purchased my batteries & charger & extra attachments on the same order, which arrived quickly & then sat here unable to be tested). But finally all components arrived & I'm very happy with it. Btw, the original fabric bag that comes with it is better than using the disposable-paper-replacement-bags, I think the suction is better (but I'll still keep some paper ones in case I need to suck up something gross, who knows). But I've wanted & hovered around buying this vacuum for a year & love that I finally have it!THE BAD: shipping delays.THE GOOD: my hardwood floor apartment is much more dust free & I love grabbing this quickly, running around before company arrives, taking it out to my car etc.REMINDER: This is JUST the vacuum WITHOUT batteries. You need to buy a battery & charger (or have them already).

Contractor Comparison-Buyer Beware
I am a Contractor and I own Dozens of Makita Tools.I have 40+ years in the trade, practicing fine finish work.I actually purchased this for Home-use, because I already multiple batteries.I am Disappointed on several points. When comparing it to other Cordless-Dust-Buster; Ex: Porter Cable (PC) , etc.It lacks Power & Design. The PC has a wide mouth, so suction area is bigger. The Mak. is a small restricted hole, which should actually suck better? It does not come with a soft-bristle-brush.I do not care to drag a plastic device across surfaces that can easily be scratched/marred up.Finally, the boxes assembly came with a Paper-Manual written only in CHINESE.OK, built in China, but typically manuals are written in English, Spanish, French, Etc.So no warranty registration card or phone #.Wrong Manual-I like to have it on hand to file with my other tools.Makita's # is in my contact list, but of course nobody picks up on the wkend.OK, sure i could go to the website, download a manual, etc. But not the point.....A small problem becomes a Big-Hassle.Disappointed in this Makita Tool Purchase.Follow up-I placed a call to Makita-USA to get a Manual/Warranty.When i gave them the Model # initially it DID NOT come up in there system? Why? Because this is not a USA Product. I was told its Origin is Australia and to get in touch with Makita-Australia to down load a manual. IT IS NOT INTENEDED TO BE SOLD IN USA MARKET.SHAME on the SELLER who knowingly is selling these units on Amazon.I decided the whole thing was a hassle, so i called Amazon customer service to return the item.If i chose, i can pick one up at the local Box Store for the same exact price, with an English Written Manual & Warranty registration.Amazon said they would be doing an investigation of product & seller & may pull the product from sale on their site. To date that has not happened.
