I'm new to buying carving tools as I've just started getting into rubber stamp making. I'll structure this as a pros and cons with my overall thoughts at the end. I hope you find this helpful!Pros:-they feel sturdy in myjand. The handle and blades are attached to each other well. The handles feel strong, at least strong when working with soft materials like rubber or soft woods. I haven't tried with harder materials.-large variety of blades-easy to sharpen (which is also something I'm new to doing. Surprisingly I didn't mess any blades up yet)-comes with a compact case so I can store them without taking up too much spaceCons:-all blades came fairly dull-some blades had minor defects (some shown in my second picture, I did my best to make them visible) While there are small defects I feel they can be corrected easily and I'm personally unconcerned with them.Overall: I like these tools. I've carved one stamp already and it went well. The tools are sturdy and they were very easy to sharpen. You really get a lot for the price you pay, so even though there were some small defects I can't complain. This may not be the best set for a professional, but it's a great set for beginners. The tools are small, they are not for large scale wood working (For instance, I wouldn't try to make a wooden cereal bowl with these) they are intended for small scale projects/ detail work, which is exactly what I bought them for.

I bought this set specifically to carve my pumpkin with it. I'd say 2 of the tools were perfect for it and the others weren't quite right. Not the fault of the kit, though, as everything was sharp and really nice. I used 2 of the thinner scooping tools to make more delicate lines on the pumpkin. I'll have to take up wood carving or something to use the other tools 😂

The handle construction is super sturdy and held up up to the some rough work, which is usually what has broken first with other cheap carving kits from craft stores. The case is also really nice and the sharpening stone was a nice thought. However rather than getting noticeable dull and needing to be sharpened the flat blades (not the convex ones) got ships that will take some work to get sharp again. For those ones youre better off with a razor or a pen knife of some kind. The convex knives are great and did not feel dull nearly as fast, probably because they rely on geometry more than sharpness.

Bought as a Christmas gift. The man loves them. Claims to be decent quality and a nice size.

Four of the tips were rounded so they could be used to cut away the rubber for making a lino cut in print block making. The product being cut was soft.

First I admit I am a newbie, but I do know about sharp tools. Most of these aren’t. To be fair I have been working on Maple which is very hard wood. Going to try softer wood to see how they work. I believe this is also an example of you get what you pay for. Other more expensive tools work better for sure. PS Tried softer wood. They stuck suck. Do not hold an edge.

The tools are very useful and the range is good, however, they are not the best quality and for the serious carver may have to be replaced early on. M. Jolly

To start with, yes, they're decently sharp when you get them. You wont be carving no Oak trees with them though. They're good enough for small stuff. Yes, the tips will chip/break if you are carving harder wood. I tried them on a piece of cherry wood, which required a mallet to get them to carve at a decent depth. For softer woods they shouldnt have a problem. Just learn how to sharpen them. Its not hard to learn. You will definitely want to resharpen every 10 minutes if carving hard wood. I mostly worked in clay and these would work fine for that too! As others have said, they work well for pumpkin carving.The caps they come with are 'ok'. They dont fit on tightly so as you pick up a chisel, the caps will slide off the other ones beside it.Pros: decently sharp, nice assortment of blades, affordable for beginners, great for soft materials, comes with sharpening stone (I used 1500grit sandpaper instead)Cons: Not good for hard woods, caps pop off too easily, blades chip on hard material
