Dixon DX004 High D Tuneable Whistle

Packing was adequate from Ireland. Compared to a Sweetone whistle in C, I think this DX004 sounds more 'sweet'. I find this one decently easier to play and it has a warmer and more consistent tone overall. Finding the right air velocity to blow for any given note feels easier to discern. Definitely worth the extra money for this whistle.

It has good sound, and, being plastic, is louder than tin whistles. Good value.

I finally got a good one!I've tried Dixon whistles before (not from this vendor) and they always fell short in intonation. This model (with the white band on the bottom) plays in tune!Also, the C natural fingered oxxooo is very well in tune.The package arrived from Belfast 3 days before the earliest projected delivery date!All-in-all I'm very happy with this transaction with 1to1 Music.

I haven't been playing whistle for long, but as far as I can tell, this is a good whistle. It's much more in tune than the cheaper whistles I've purchased before (a Waltons and an Oak), although some of the notes are not as on key as I would like. Also the pitch is a bit squirrely if you aren't very careful about the strength of breath.But in general, it sounds really great, and it can play the highest notes without squeaking.Also, it's a sturdy instrument, but it is very light and feels a bit cheap when you first handle it. One last thing, you might be just as well off with the one piece. I haven't found the tuning ability to be as useful as I would have expected.

a great whistle, regardless of the price

This was purchased as a gift for a friend who is quite pleased with it. It has a nice sound, and the tuning, while a mite finicky, works well. Be aware that it does ship from Ireland.

I am an amatuer at the Whistle. I have several different ones from Freeman, to a variety of stock low costs whistles. I have days that this is the only whistle I want to play. It is especially good when I'm trying to embellish or try to play 1/2 steps between the diatonic notes. I don't know how it compares with expensive whistles, but I do know that it is in my top two whistles. It is a good whistle and a good deal.

Learning getting breath right tuned right can take tral n error but when you got it set sounds great sturdy construction no. Sharp edges clen.
