Truly the perfect eraser - better than that Staedtler you may be using
There are your cheap (Pink Pearl) erasers. And then there are your more expensive Staedtler erasers. And then there's THIS eraser.I used to use the Staedtler erasers and they are pretty good but the Pentel Ain eraser is even better. Yes, the Ain is about 4x as expensive but it literally picks up all the pencil markings to a degree I didn't think possible. The eraser comes with a nice cardboard case to prevent finger oils from collecting on it. It is made from a "special polymer" which appears to be some sort of trade secret. The size is approximately 1.8 inches (4.5 cm) X 0.7 inches (1.8 cm) X 0.5 inches (1.3 cm).Unfortunately, the Ain is still by import (from Japan) only. I suggest buying from one of the many vendors with a high (>96%) rating and you should be fine. If you are careful, you might also find it far cheaper on other websites. Either way, try one! They made a convert out of this originally Staedtler fan.

I don't really use erasers as much now that I'm not a student, but I prefer to write in pencil and this is my favorite eraser. I splurged on a bunch of different kinds of japanese erasers on jetpens awhile ago and this one was the one I liked best. I like the small size too. Erases cleanly and clumps together. Way better than the white polymer ones, and I LOVED the white polymer ones, I buy them for the kids for school and always kept one on my desk. But this one replaced it!

Excellent Eraser
This has been one of my favorite erasers ever. Clears almost perfectly the lines I want erased.

Best Performing Eraser, Period.
Japanese stationary items are coveted for their variety and quality. Their erasers are fundamentally different than US domestic ones because of the materials used. The most common Japanese eraser I’ve seen is the Mono, and indeed, I used it for a while very satisfied with its performance over anything you can get here. However, when I used this Pentel Ain eraser I was blown away. It doesn’t lift my ink but it erases all graphite extremely quickly so that there is zero trace left in seconds.I see some reviewers complaining about how fast it gets eaten up, but depending on how you erase, it can last longer per amount erased than others. I hardly ever actually have to erase in more than one pass as I’m conditioned to do. One clean drag has been enough for most of my pencils under normal conditions. This is truly the one eraser to rule them all in my experience.

A little harder formula would be great.
A little bit on the soft side which makes it great for removing heavy graphite without smearing, but this is also the problem as it get used very quuck.

One Star
Very disappointed. It's very small, definitely not "large size eraser".
