You may be needing one of these!
The product is exactly as depicted and described. It has a good, rubber catch and works fine. You may be unpleasantly surprised by the results you may get testing your microwave oven. It certainly varies from brand and model I already tested. Most revealing test was to measure an empty microwave oven turned on. Mine, a Samsung branded one, irradiated thru the closed door up to a meter away, more tan 5 mw / square cm (the maximum value that FDA approves. It turns out that If you do not place anything (be it food, a glass of water, whatever) inside the microwave oven and turn it on, then the microwaves will not be absorbed by anyting and will tend to grossly leak out. Also, if what you place inside the microwave oven to be heated is small enough (say, a coffe jug with a little milk inside, to be heated in order to later place some expresso coffe over it) then it will absorb a small quantity of the full microwaves radiation, and therefore you will get plenty of "stray, unusued" microwaves out.Sorry if the explanation does not sound scientific enough. I can only relate to the practical results I measured with this detector. FDA accepts up to 5mw / square cm. Almost ALL ovens I tested (even with food or liquid inside) irradiated in excess of such maximum quantity, at the door itself. This would mean that if you need to peek inside by placing your face near or touching your microwaves oven door, then you might be harmfully irradiated each time you do so.If you get irradiated on your eyes, you may develop cataracts. In your skin, it may feel burned. Also there is an eventual sterility problem (thankfuly it seems to be temporary) according to the FDA document on their web regarding microwave leakages..

Quite easy to use out of the box
Quite easy to use out of the box. Calibrate button sets up background level then I tested my microwave. Works fine and no false positives. Basically everything read around 1 or less and 5 is the limit for safe

Useless
I work on industrial microwaves and this thing does not work. I compared it to an ETS Lindgren which is a $1200 leakage detector. The ETS would give me 0.4 mw/cm2 on my home microwave, the Reed would show 6 mw/cm2 which is over the gov 5 mw/cm2 limit this would freak out most people and they would try to repair or replace the microwave.I would not recommend this because of the completely wrong reading, If it was whitin a 1 mw/cm2 range I would be ok but 5 is way off.I whish this thing worked better, I have dealers around the world that would like to be able to use a cheap way to check for mw leakage.

Peace of mind
A crack Line appeared on microwave door, but not inside. I was concerned and used this meter and there was a leak. Tested new microwave, no leak

Saved my life.
It saved my life. Wright-Patterson Airbase runs drones over Indiana spewing micro waves. With the detector, I could identifytheir approach and go hide in the basement. My implanted diffiber heats up if I stay out doors.

Great product!!
I used it for my son's science project; pretty handy and easy to use.The only issue I found is that when the peak measure is passed; it won't show the measure when Max is selected.
