1st one- An expensive 2-port Hub -- Replacement is most stable/reliable device I've ever owned.
Please read all the way to the end. 1st device had issues, replacement is most stable device I've ever installed on my system.I had high hopes for this device. Notice the past tense. Initial one disappointed; replacement however is the most stable reliable device ever attached to my laptop. Bill Gates needs to TAKE NOTICE!1st Device:Whether attached devices are USB 3.0 or USB 2.0, it seems that only the 1st 2 ports are reliable(measured from power cord and USB 3.0 computer connection). All devices tested have their OWN external power! Ports 3-10 will not maintain connection for more than 24 hrs. After dropping ready, several hours of fiddling are required to re-establish connection (usually including a cold re-boot). A simple unplug/replug NEVER works. Have experienced these problems with 3,4 and 5 devices attached and have varied ports used with no change in behavior.I have another USB 3.0 Hub (4-port) which maintains (all) 4 devices for about a week, then drops ALL; but unlike this device a simple unplug/replug resets all ports 90+% of the time. The other vendor's hub is attached to a USB 3.0 2-port express card, so it's issues COULD be the result problems with the express card. THIS hub has ONLY been attached to a native USB 3.0 port on my laptop, a port which has been rock solid with other devices. This device is NOT ready for prime time.Contacted their Customer Support. Very willing to help and immediately offered a replacement. I misplaced initial shipping box so (with full permission by CS) waited for arrival of new unit to return old one.Following written three days after installing new hub:Replacement arrived from CS. I have to tell you this one (so far) could not be more stable. I have both USB 3.0 (self powered HDs) and USB 2.0 (Hub ONLY Powered, 2 1.2" HD Enclosures) attached for now 3 days and have had a total of ZERO drops! Had I received this one initially, my review would have been 5 stars. My guess is that there is a bad batch of power supplies. Referring back to prior issues. I can move ports at will. Reestablishing connection just WORKS. As I have HAD NO Drops, I cannot comment on re-establishing connection after that. This one is as it should be --- INVISIBLE, just works.Give it a shot if you need a lot of USB 3.0 connectivity. If you get a bad one CS will fix it. With the kind of support I received, similar concern will soon root out the bad ones.Update after almost 90 days of use:This device is solid as a rock! I have 24/7 had 9 or 10 devices attached. My system has crashed a dozen times; but this hub HAS NEVER LOST A SINGLE CONNECTION!! Not even with a(previously) flakey Bluetooth dongle! (This update is the source of reference to Bill Gates!). Other USB 3.0 hubs are no longer attached to my system. I rely on this one alone.Second Update (and final) after another several weeks. This replacement device has STILL NEVER dropped a single connection. The three other USB 3.0 hubs I have are now gathering dust in a corner. This is the only one I use. Could not recommend more highly.Summary: All electronics have a small infant mortality. I was unlucky to get one of those initially. However, the quality work done by this manufacturer is more than evident in the replacement; a replacement offered quickly, with little hassle and NOT ONE PENNY OF EXPENSE on my part. And for the record, I am a 30+ year veteran of Hi-Tech, so I have more than a casual basis for my opinions. If you need the connectivity - this is the device to buy! Could not recommend more highly.

Anker usb 3 hub
Finally a usb 3 hub with more then 4 ports! This is very useful considering there are a limited number of them on a laptop. I recently bought a sager gaming laptop and found that 4 onboard usb ports wasn't enough to power all my external devices. This hub takes care of that problem nicely. No more switching from one device to another, now I can plug them all in and power them on when I need them. This hub comes with a 4 amp adapter for devices like blue ray players, these devices require more power to operate then a dvd player or an external hard drive. This is a huge help to people using laptops to play their games or have a lot of external devices. I don't believe this will effect desktops so much since its much easier to buy an upgraded power supply, but it never hurts to have ten extra usb 3 ports. The primary advantage to these devices are.1. Increased number of usable ports for external devices.2. Less wear and tear on usb 3 ports built into your laptop or desktop. (These are not replaceable and when damaged become useless.)3. Comes with an external adapter for supplying extra power for those devices that require it. (Blue ray players.)4. Comes with a nice round number of 10 usable usb ports.5. Housing made of aluminum for increased durability. My only complaint or rather a suggestion is this hub needs mounting holes on the back of the case. This is not an absolute necessity, but its nice when you can mount the usb hub to the wall above your computer or some other out of the way place. This helps with cable management issues and clears up a little desk space. This is an outstanding device that will make a lot of laptop users lives a lot easier and save them a little cash in the process. I will wrap this up by saying, this usb 3 hub is useful, simple in design and most importantly, it works! It still needs those mounting holes in the back though. Nice job Anker, will be waiting to see what you come out with next.

Useful, reliable, tech tool.
Overall, this is an excellent product in my opinion. I'll make my review short and sweet.PROS:- Significantly expands number of USB ports, with (9) USB ports and (1) dedicated charging port.- Blue USB indicator light shows which ports are active (this helps diagnose connection issues) and Green power indicator light shows when the device is plugged into the wall (Yes, I've made that mistake wondering why it won't work.)- Light, compact, quality construction (plastic) has held up in home use and traveling (airports, hotels, planes)- Reliable, effective use quickly accesses Read/Write capabilities of external drives and memory cardsCONS:- Sometimes (not frequently by any means) have trouble with a connected device via USB port disconnect. I am unsure if this is computer related, user device related, or the actual product. I speculate the product randomly causes this. A simple unplugging of the user device from the product USB port and plugging it back in resolves the issue. Not a major problem by any means.- Requires cable management if you regularly have a lot of accessories plugged in. (but if you're in tech, you're nerdy and like doing cable management, so maybe this isn't a con? :p )^That's it. I don't have a lot of negative things to say about it.As a traveling photographer, videographer, I have to travel with several drives and be able to access multiple cards simultaneously. This is the tool I use to get it done. It goes everywhere I go along with my laptop. With some clever cable management, I have coupled it together with the power supply multiple drives to quickly connect all my accessories either contained neatly in my office, or fitting in a traveling backpack.
