The best washing line I’ve ever used!
The media could not be loaded. I bought one of these Smith’s Steel Washing Lines many years ago, and it was absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately, when I moved house, I left it behind and couldn’t remember the brand name. As a result, I ended up buying various cheap washing lines from local shops and sellers on Amazon. Every single one of them was awful. They either stretched and sagged under the weight of clothes, cracked in the sun, rusted, or snapped in the wind. After the latest one broke, I decided enough was enough and searched through my old email receipts to find the name of my old one. It turns out it was a Smith’s line I had used all those years ago, and I was thrilled to find out they still sold them. I immediately ordered the 30m/100ft version in White. It arrived the very next day, well-packaged with minimal waste, which is always a bonus. As soon as I opened the package, I knew I’d made the right choice. The quality was just as good as I remembered. The steel core inside the line is what really sets this line apart from others. It is incredibly strong and durable. The medical-grade PVC coating gives it a smooth, sturdy finish that feels built to last, and it is resistant to rot, mould, and the worst of the British weather. It's also easy to clean if it does get dirty, and unlike other lines, it doesn’t become sticky or tacky over time.Installing the line was straightforward, though I will admit tying it off was a bit tricky due to its thickness. Thankfully, the line comes with two tensioners, which made it easier to secure tightly across my garden. I’ve got it running from the house across the full length of the garden, looped around the washing line pole, and back to the house in a V-shape, creating two separate lines. Even with heavy loads of laundry, like bedding and towels, the line doesn’t sag at all. It is incredibly reassuring to know this line won’t give in, even in strong winds.I previously had the transparent colour but decided to go for White this time, which looks fantastic. It blends subtly into the garden without standing out, unlike some of the bright, cheap alternatives I’ve tried. What’s even better is that it is made right here in Britain, not some flimsy, unbranded import. You can tell this is a product the company stands behind, especially with the lifetime guarantee, which gives me real peace of mind.At £14.99, it might seem pricier than some of the other lines available, but you truly get what you pay for. After wasting money on cheap lines that snapped within months, I know this one will last for years. I’ve already had it up for a few months now, and it has handled everything perfectly. No sagging, no cracking or snapping, just pure heavy-duty strength as advertised. If you are tired of constantly replacing flimsy washing lines, this is the one for you. Smith’s Steel Washing Line is by far the best I’ve ever used, and I’ll never buy a different brand again. I can’t recommend it enough!Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope that you found it helpful and that it assists you in your decision-making. I try to be as honest and fair as possible, as those have always been the reviews that helped me the most.

Yep, does the job well
Excellent. I holding up well in a Scottish island garden, which is susceptible to a fair bit of wind and rain. Copes well with lots of washing in windy days!

Strong but very thin.
This rope has a vary narrow core cable, which is fine. It's a bit stretchy, but it's not likely to break unless the sheath/coating gets damaged and water ingress leads to rusting. And there's the lost star. Because the sheath is so very thin, it raises 2 issues.First, if anything snags or cuts it, it's going to let water in and the core will rust, then eventually break.Second, because the sheath is so thin, there's hardly any bulk to the line, meaning pegged things slide more easily in the wind, and dried items have a much sharper crease to deal with, sometimes with associated grot that may require an additional wash.Hope this helps.

Very strong line for all your laundry needs!
I bought this line after years of years of messing around with flimsy lines and I'm highly impressed! It's a lovely green colour which blends into my garden and it's strong enough to dry duvets, heavy blankets and towels on without worrying that it's going to snap. The line was long enough for me to string two 10m washing lines across my garden with plenty left over and it was easy to secure with the two tensioners that came with the line.Just something to be aware of: if you intend to cut the line so that you can put more than one line up in your garden, you will need to buy additional tensioners with which to secure the line. This was easy enough to do and didn't cause any problems it it's just something to be aware of. Order the extra tensioners at the time of ordering the line if you think that you will need them.Overall, this is an excellent product and feels like an investment that will serve me for years to come.

Worth the money
I shouldn't complain about my last washing line as it did heavy duty over many years, but looking at some of the alternatives today I just didn't think they would cut it. This was a bit more expensive but, on the plus side, we've got enough left over to replace it or put up a second washing line – and ours extends over a large area of the garden. A well made product and does what it should.

Incredibly strong and versatile.
Incredibly strong and flexible. Although obviously intended for a washing line, we used it to support our heavy duty netting for our ‘walk-in’ fruit beds. It’s so sturdy, hard-wearing and easy to handle, it did the job perfectly.

Could be better
Overall would be a good product, but has manufacturing defect. It will still function OK, so haven’t sent back.
