Great amp for the price…lacks adequate headroom though
Despite the many negative reviews surrounding Rockville products, I’ve continued to purchase and use them over the last 4 years or so. While the sound quality comes no where close to top brands, if you just a hobbyist musician simply wanting something powerful but on a budget, this isn’t the absolute worst brand to consider in my opinion.I bought this amp (RPA12) because I needed a more powerful amp than what I currently to properly drive the subs (which are also 18-inch Rockvilles) of my PA system. When I connected the RPA12 to my subs, it definitely provided much powerful deep end with the X-over switch set to the lowest frequency setting. However, the issue I had is that when I tried to set the gain anywhere past the 10 o’clock position, it clipped…even with my mixer set at 0 db.For me, this wasn’t that big of an issue because I was still getting enough low end on my overall PA volume. Plus, I really couldn’t find another amp with these specs at this price range; especially one that included a crossover switch. It’s just incredibly disappointing not being able to fully crank this amp to see how much rumble I could potentially get from my subs.I did notice another reviewer had a similar issue. So just beware with this model line of amps. You might not get the power output you’re expecting.Update: since my original review, I discovered the 1/4” input jack on one of my 18 subs shorted out. This is why I was getting the clipping signal at such a low db setting. The Speakon jack still worked so I just hooked it up from there and I had a ton of power coming from the amp at that point. So I would definitely recommend this amp to anyone who wants a massive amount of power but stay within a budget.

works great
I've had a pair of jbl e90 floorstanding 3 way speakers for more than 20 years...never had them hooked up to anything other than a receiver with 100 watts per channel...what a shame...bought this RPA12 several months ago and hooked up my old jbl's ...unbelievable how great these speakers sound after all this time...all they needed was some real juice to make them sing...they're rated for 225 watts rms each so this amp has plenty of headroom...i can crank it really loud, and i mean screaming loud, and the volume is barely half way up while the sound is crystal clear...im 54 and don't give a shiat about my ears...they always ring and i don't want to hear what most people have to say anyway...i liked what this amp did so much that I've since aquired 2 RPA16's at 10,000 watts each and have built two boxes for 15 inch subs as well as two boxes for 8 inch subs...slapped a crossover and preamp unit on top of it all and just run all my music from my pc to the preamp through your standard 3.5mm pc audio jack...game changer set up from where i started with my first Rockville RPA12...I dont even use my sony stereo receiver anymore...no need to...got one build and one more amp to add....some devastating Orion HCCA midrange speakers married to one more RPA16 and then the neighbors will hate me more than ever...then my work is done....the RPA12 is more than enough wattage for most people and their setup....if you want to upgrade your setup and add some big subs or pro PA loludspeakers, just get the RPA16...the RPA12 is 5000 watts peak for $284...the RPA16 is 10000 watts peak for $100 more...thats 5000 more peak watts at your disposal for another $100...all of the amps I've bought have worked great and they are easy to use for anyone...no expert audio tech knowledge necessary...the user manual is like 7 pages and illustrates different setups and where you plug in the cables for said setups...idiot proof...get one...you'll be glad you did

Good Value Good Sound Super Quiet Fan
Having only had this arrive today I cant give a longevity report but wanted to share my initial reactions. As a former nightclub designer back in the 70's-80's- 90's with dozens of clubs built worldwide and countless audio systems installed here's my initial thoughts are : For the money this appears of reasonable build quality, the sound is excellent, the fan so quiet you can hardly hear it which is brilliant, using it for a new Home Vinyl Room to play all my collection of vinyl with Bose 80's powered by this amp. Plenty of power and certainly seems like around 500 watts into 8 ohms. Display is excellent as are the stepped volume controls, the linked out inputs are great to feed subs. Now the bad : the "ears" for rack mounting are not removable so you are stuck with prince Charles ears sticking out even if you are not putting it in a rack. Secondly, the power cord is not detachable, seriously Rockville how can you make such huge mistakes, where else do you see a so called pro power amplifier with a non detachable 115v power socket. Apart from that its super impressive, way better than Geminis NGA 5000 with its vacuum cleaner fans, but at least they had a detachable power cord.after sending back the Gemini XGA 5000 because is just wasn't up to standard and the fans were louder than you vacuum cleaner

Excellent Value
This amp is perfect for my professional Karaoke set up. I have the 1400w rms amp paired with 2 Rockville 1200w peak power speakers. I run the music from my laptop to a Pyle 88btu mixer and on to the amp and I can crank up the bass if desired and a subwoofer is hardly needed. Very good quality for the price point. Mine is still new so we will see what kind of longevity it has over time. But so far. Very satisfied. I started out with an Amp Receiver combo and a pretty basic setup. I thought something was wrong with my microphones because distortion was really high no matter what I tried to do. With this amp now in my set up, my mics and background music come through with so much clarity and crisp detail. My karaoke guests have stated that I am the only karaoke guy in my city with this good of sound. (I know of a competitor of mine who actually has really great sound) and my people still say I got him beat.
