Great text and photos
I bought this as a gift, although I did read it before wrapping. For the price, this is an excellent book, with great facts and photos. I am happy with the purchase.

Fun read for kids
Excellent book. My kindergartener needs to become a lion expert for her upcoming trip to the zoo. The facts are simple and easily remembered against a backdrop of beautiful shots of lions in the wild. There are jokes interspersed which are lion related. At the end of the book is a little picture quiz to help the kids remember lion-themed vocabulary. The one critique is that I don't think this is a level one reader. Kindergarteners will have a tough time reading this book on their own due to its length and vocabulary. It's more likely for a first grader. Even still, I highly recommend it!

Great condition and engaging text
I wasn't sure what to expect with library binding, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is produced as a small hardcover book instead of a magazine. The pictures are bright and colorful and the text is engaging for many different levels of readers. I plan on buying other Nat Geo Kids books.

Easy to read and interesting
This book is great for children who are starting to read and put words together. The wording is simple and short making it easy for beginner readers to practice reading. The book also provides interesting facts for children to learn. Every child learns at their own pace and speed so it would be hard to recommend based on a specific age, therefore I would recommend this level of reading for children between ages of 4-7.

Inspires Reading
The best series ever for young readers. It is very hard to find books for young readers that are based on the natural world. The photos are beautiful, the storyline is full of accurate, interesting, scientific facts about the creatures, and has a vocabulary building review at the back of the book. And each book in this series has several upside down jokes that reference the animal, an added point of interest for Montessori and all children. BTW, I have gotten more than 30 of these books for my classroom. Highly recommended!

Highly Recommended Series
I have most of the National Geographic Readers in my classroom. They are very engaging and well-written. I prefer the library binding, because they hold up better in a classroom.I purchased this book about lions to complement the Waseca Biomes Africa study for my 6-9 Montessori classroom.
