Sweet, Mellow Sound
I just received it today. Very mellow with clean, pleasing sound in the upper octave. The pipers grip necessary for playing this instrument will take some getting used to, but it's well worth it!

My First Low D Whistle is Perfect
I am in love with this whistle. I got a low F to help my fingers adjust to the piper’s grip (I have really small hands) and really stretch before I went all in for this one and my god, this whistle? The first few notes I played were stunning. I got used to playing it really quickly although I squeaked a lot switching octaves at first. I immediately bought a Dixon pro high d whistle because I love the quality of this product so much! 10/10 recommend.

Disappointed
Will not play low D, E, of F without a real struggle, and zero volume. It's not embouchure or breath control! I have several other cheaper whistles that work just fine. While this wasn't a super expensive whistle, a would have liked one that worked. Quite a disappointment after waiting for a month.

Big, but beautiful
I’ve been using a general sized Irish tin whistle for some time and wanted to change it up so went with this. It’s huge! I think I was naive when I bought it, thinking it’d be slightly bigger. The sound is beautiful but like other posters have said, the fingering will take some time to get used to. I have decently long fingers but I think this would work best for a man’s hands (with longer fingers).

Good quality
A bagpiper who received this said it was very good quality. Shipping was slow - 43 days from order to receipt of whistle. Tried to email sender but note never went through.

It’ll take a few weeks, but it’s just right: UPDATE a year later.
As a high D whistle player, I waited years before taking the plunge to low D. I took seriously the warnings that covering the holes is different from high whistles. I finally got this one and it showed up a couple days ago. The warnings are correct; it’s different. I guess it will take me about two weeks to get a clean sound through both octaves. Breath control is different too, especially in the low notes of the first octave. Once I get the clean sound, I’ll be all set. Imagine that, weeks, not months or a year or two, to command a new instrument. I like the tuneable feature, since I play with fiddlers. UPDATE a year later. I’ve been listening to dozens of reviews of low D whistles, hoping to “upgrade.” For some reason they all sound like someone blowing through a vacuum cleaner hose. Today I played it in public for the first time and Wow! A nice clear sound. No need to upgrade, for which I would have been willing to spend twice as much as this one. Maybe I’ll get a G whistle for mostly solo playing. By the way, I placed two rubber bands on the tube to mark where to put my thumbs and to stop slippage.

Great whistle
I have several whistles and this is my favorite. Great tone. If you have average hands...no problem with fingering. Very well made.

Wonderful instrument!
A wonderful instrument. I'm well pleased with the quality tin whistle itself and a wonderful sound produced by it.
